I know you didn’t think I had forgotten about all of my peeps did you?  (you did get a fancy little scheduled post today afterall)  Well, this is a real-time update right now as I’m actually sitting at a computer in the Sofitel hotel only minutes after finishing up some incredible multiplayer on a level of Bad Company that no one outside of EA and DICE have played!

Gold Edition Battlefield: Bad Company

Screenshots: Battlefield: Bad Company

Anyway, check out the box art for the Gold Edition of Battlefield: Bad Company.  Even the PS3 Gold Edition box art looks pimp.  (notice the dual shock icon on it)  There’s also a few other screenshots from the game included.  I also have some news on how to get your hands on those five unlockable weapons coming soon!

Ready for another search & rescue hunt?  U360 is part of a community wide scavenger hunt called Unlock The Achievement that’s set to benefit both gamers and charity alike.   All you have to do is find the most “Achievements” hidden across all of the partner sites.  There are 5 hidden within each partner site.  Be sure to register at Unlock The Achievement so your progress can be tracked.

Good luck and godspeed to all of you happy little hunters from U360.  I’ll be rooting for ya!  (and no I can’t tell you where the hidden Achievements for U360 will be)  But you know me…I’ll give some hints if I can.  I realize it may be a heavy task to pillage so many sites.  Anyway, read below for more details on the event.

I’ll be flying to EA Studios tonight to get some hand’s on time and get dirty with Battlefield: Bad Company.  I’m going deep into the foxhole for a few days to get some alone time with the game and find out exactly what the hell happened with the on/off again weapon charge fiasco.  Not really but I will hopefully find out some new things going on with Bad Company.

Battlefield: Bad Company

I’m not sure how much time I’ll be able to spend with the Producers and Developers but let me know if there’s anything you want me to try and dig up.  I’ve tried the MP Beta for the game and I enjoyed it.  The happy face grenades were easily the highlight for me.  It’ll be good to get some more hand’s on time with the game to see how it’s stacking up before its June release.

I’ll also try to do some updating along the way.  If you don’t see anything from me over the next few days, just know that I was too deep into some Bad Company.  I should be able to post something though.  I’m pretty good at making time to update my peeps.  I won’t get back to Dallas until late Saturday so there won’t be a live show.  But there may be a small surprise that I’m trying to work out with EA during the event so stay tuned…you may get a live show from EA Studios if things go as planned.

I’ve seen some cool prizes before and this one just about trumps them all for Xbox.com’s All-Nighter fests.  Xbox, Toyota and Peavy have teamed up to grant 24 lucky Guitar Hero III players a most awesome prize.  Glaze at the prize below.  Crafted from a real-wood, life-size Peavey guitar and modified for play with guitar-based music video games, this custom Peavey AG RiffMaster guitar controller features the sleek finish, dimensions and feel of a real Peavey guitar to provide a truly authentic music video game experience.

Check here for more details.  All you have to do is download the Toyota Matrix Xbox All-Nighter Registration Gamer Picture to be officially registered for the Play & Win and a chance to score the custom Peavy.

The event is on the weekend of April 26-27 so make sure at some point you’re rocking on these two days!

[Update] Just confirmed with TriXie that these custom kick ass guitars are indeed WIRELESS!  That makes these 24 custom exclusives even hotter!  They won’t be anywhere for sale so make sure you rock out for your chance to win one.

Remember a few months ago…back in the day when I brought you news of a new football game making its way around the circuit called Backbreaker?  It’s the game that uses the euphoria engine (also found in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV and Star Wars: Force Unleashed games).  Well IGN posted a new developer diary featuring an in-game tackle mini-game showcasing gameplay.  It’s called Tackle Alley and to be honest I’m impressed with the early development work.

“All the tackles are different and generated on-the-fly, so you never know what’s going to happen. But whatever does happen – you know it’s unique to you. No-one else will have seen the same 100-yard run before!” - Backbreaker Devs

It’s still a work in progress but it just might take something like this to bring a little life back into the football genre.  It’s over the top really yet done not sloppy.  The sound in it is already awesome and I can tell that the animations are going in the right direction.

Time for another Flashback.  Out of all the Xbox owners out there, there shouldn’t be many who don’t remember this title.  Brute Force was perhaps the most controversial release for the original Xbox because of the mixed reception that it received.  The marketing behind it lead everyone to believe that it would turn the gaming world inside out but critics and gamers alike saw something much different.  Digital Anvil did a great job in my opinion because I was one of the few who really enjoyed Brute Force.

Flashback Game: Brute Force
Released: May 1 2003
Platform: Xbox
Next-Gen Meter: High

Although it fell short of delivering the ground-breaking experience, I really want to see this game done on next-gen consoles.  Or has it already been done?  You could make the argument that it has some similarities to Gears of War and many of the current squad-based games.  If you imagine Brute Force on steroids, you’d probably get something close to a 4-man playable Gears of War.  Tex was the original “muscle bound male” on the Xbox.  I’d love to see Flint, Hawk and Brutus all shine in a next-gen format.  Flint was the cyborg sniper of the crew and she was hot on top of that.  She had a sniper rifle with a hardcore scope.  I think the coolest of the crew though was Hawk and her cloaking ability.  Check out the Brute Force Experience to see an awesome little setup detailing the game and characters.

The folks from Activision sent word on a special pre-order promotion going on with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.  Guitar Hero: Aerosmith features songs spanning their long chart-topping career as well as hits from their favorite groups like The Clash, Cheap Trick, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts and more.  Pre-ordering will give you access to a special bundle which includes guitar, the exclusive Aerosmith faceplate, an Aerosmith tour book and of course, the game.  (and don’t have a panic, the Guitar Hero III axe still works with GH: Aerosmith so you can simply buy the game alone)

Aerosmith Faceplate

Pricing is as follows:

$99 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii, $89 for PlayStation 2 wireless and $109 for the two-guitar (wired) PlayStation 2 bundle which includes both a black and silver guitar.  I’m not sure if the pricing or bundle will change if you don’t pre-order.  I’ll see if I can find out those details.  That faceplate is rather sexy but I think I’m good without it.

[Update] I confirmed with the folks behind the news and the Aerosmith faceplate will not be sold separately.  The only way to get it, is to pre-order.  And the pricing is also only a pre-order bundle deal.

Dark Sector

Developer: Digital Extremes
Publisher: D3Publisher of America
Rating Guide: How I Review Games

Review:

First thing first.  This is not a Krull remake.  Second thing second.  Hayden Tenno is possibly the only pretty boy killer in video games.  Ok, now that those things are out of the way allow me to say that Dark Sector is one of my favorite action games on the Xbox 360 now.  Could it be because I’ve never quite enjoyed a slow motion limb slicing like this?  Or could it be because I’ve never quite enjoyed setting someone on fire in slow motion like this?

It’s probably both of the above plus a few other things that Dark Sector provided.  Digital Extremes and D3Publisher of America have set a pretty good foundation with Dark Sector if it’s ever to be a franchise.  Wanna know more?  Of course you do!

We had a really interesting discussion on the live show this past Saturday about Grand Theft Auto IV so it seems only fitting to start the week off with some details on its multiplayer modes.  I’ll have the show up later today for the RSS, Zune and iTunes subscribers.  It’s no secret that I haven’t been able to get into Grand Theft Auto as a whole but I’m hoping that will change when GTA IV releases this month.

Grand Theft Auto IV MP

The multiplayer modes revealed are Team Deathmatch, Team Mafiya Work, Team Car Jack City, Cops ‘n Crooks, Turf War, Race and GTA Race.  The names don’t necessarily scream original but let’s take a look at the details anyway.

Team Deathmatch (2-8 teams)
Players work as a team to rub out other teams for money and the crew with the most cash at the end of the round wins.  Take the other crew down.  Remember to loot the cash dropped by deceased players. That’s the way to get ahead.
