#7 – Capcom
With the 7th pick, Capcom selects Sub-Zero out of Mortal Kombat High School. Chilling is the word that comes to mind with this pick. This marks the first time that anyone from the Cryomancers has been chosen in the draft. This is an amazing pick up for Capcom because of how they like to operate during the season. Having someone like Sub-Zero to add to your arsenal is incredible. He brings his patented love for the cold to hopefully heat up Capcom’s starting lineup.
“I’m honored to be selected and I plan to bring a lot of my personality to the table,” said Sub-Zero. “I’ve really been hard at work on my deep-freeze technique and I’m hoping that pays off for my new team.”
Capcom made it hard on the competition by showing its hand early in the draft. Rumors are that they plan to pair Sub-Zero with last year’s first rounder, Ryu. If that’s the case, then their offense is set to put up a lot of points.
#8 – Sierra Entertainment
With the 8th pick, Sierra Entertainment select Alex Mercer out of the University of ShapeShift at NY. A relative unknown who burst onto the scene late last year, Alex Mercer has all the tools to succeed. He can do all that Sierra needs to form a formidable team this year. He can disguise or alter formations and even attempt some difficult throws.
“He’s nimble, quick and can change the dynamic of any situation pretty quickly and we like that about him,” Sierra Entertainment revealed. “He’ll give us much needed breathing room going forward in the new season.”
Can a rookie really make that much of a difference in a field laced with veterans? Sierra has an uphill fight I believe if everything is riding on the shoulders of Alex Mercer. He’s fit and has the stats to back up the high draft pick but can he deliver is the real question.
