The 2008 Xbox 360 Draft
#1 – SCEA (by way of Expansion Team Rules)

With the first pick, Sony Computer Entertainment America, selects Marcus Fenix out of COG Town College. In surprising fashion, SCEA goes for depth on its front line and there’s no one more equipped than this guy. He’s 6′ 1″ and has all the makings to anchor any defense. Fresh off of an impressive win over the Locust Horde, Marcus Fenix appears ready to stage a successful repeat. But will the challenges of a new team and a new division render his patented chainsaw blitz ineffective?
“Being the #1 pick and changing teams won’t stop me from taking out all the scum in this league,” Fenix said.
You have to believe a guy when he says scum don’t you? SCEA is surely hoping that Marcus can repeat the magic that he had being a member of Delta Squad at COG Town College. Being the top pick in the draft and the added pressure of performing might just be too much for him.
#2 – Nintendo (via trade with EA; Nintendo sends their #5 pick plus Super Mario to EA)

With the second pick, Nintendo selects Solid Snake out of Metal Gear Academy. After benching and subsequently trading last season’s starter, Super Mario, it’s no surprise that they struck quickly to bring in another veteran to lead their offense. Trading away their long time starter was a risky move but it was one that the GM out at Nintendo felt they had to make.
“Super Mario was good for us for a long time but we felt like in order to continue dominating our division, we had to make the trade to secure Solid Snake with this pick,” said General Manager, Reggie Fils-Aime.
Solid Snake is no slouch to having a franchise’s fate in his hands. He led the Metal Gear Academy to quite a few conference wins and seems in good shape to do the same this year in a new division. Some draft experts were concerned about his age and other injuries but team doctors at Nintendo felt safe enough to make the pick. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I’m surprised at Microsofts pick, taking Niko is a risk with all his on the field and off the field problems and issues with the law. They should have looked at Lionhead U and selected the Hero to build their team around, now that would be a Fable story to write about.
April 24th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I can’t say I’m as surprised, Lionhead U has a very promising player making his return in the fold but as far as pure talent goes Grand Theft University has a track record of trouble but with that trouble has produced broken records in more categories to help many of us overlook the problems they have faced in the past…face it…we love stats…
