Remember a few months ago…back in the day when I brought you news of a new football game making its way around the circuit called Backbreaker?  It’s the game that uses the euphoria engine (also found in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV and Star Wars: Force Unleashed games).  Well IGN posted a new developer diary featuring an in-game tackle mini-game showcasing gameplay.  It’s called Tackle Alley and to be honest I’m impressed with the early development work.

“All the tackles are different and generated on-the-fly, so you never know what’s going to happen. But whatever does happen – you know it’s unique to you. No-one else will have seen the same 100-yard run before!” - Backbreaker Devs

It’s still a work in progress but it just might take something like this to bring a little life back into the football genre.  It’s over the top really yet done not sloppy.  The sound in it is already awesome and I can tell that the animations are going in the right direction.

I would welcome something like this, we talked a little earlier about the GTA franchise ‘getting’ stale, I havn’t and will not purchase another Madden game because of this and the fact that I know they are just going to release a ‘dressed up’ ver. next year…

I’ve been playing Blitz all week and I NEED this game. :)

I wonder how they plan on doing multiplayer - these would be some weird camera angles.

I just might buy this game! I’m not really into watching football but I play the games.
