Showcase – DJSteel
Why not start Monday off with another exciting Showcase?! Even though a little hateraid exists in this one, it’s still worthy of some shine.
Ladies and gentlemen I present to you Pittsburgh’s own, DJ the hater. (and whenver you feel froggy my friend!)
Tell us the story behind your Gamertag?
DJ comes from my first name initial and my middle name initial. The Steel comes from my location, Pittsburgh, home of the Steelers.
What‘s your life like outside of gaming?
I am married. My wife is a first grade teacher. I bought my first house in Pittsburgh around 1 ½ years ago. I’m a software engineer for a company that produces an application used in hospitals to maintain their equipment from light bulbs to defibrillators. I convert databases from various software packages to my company’s application using .NET and SQL server. That takes up most of my time. I come home and help out around the house with cleaning, cooking, and playing with the dog. I try to help out my parents whenever I can.
What do you like the most about the U360 Community – what is it that keeps you coming back?
The Community is great and I’ve known Deac for 5 years and I’ve always tried to help him out whenever I can because he gave me a shot at doing reviews for his old site. I am always interested in keeping up with the pulse of gaming and the fans.
How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?
Since the beginning, I signed up to become a beta tester and was accepted. I have been a part of Xbox Live through the highs and the lows.
What do you think is the best game of all time?
This is a really tough question. Of all time, I probably will go with Twisted Metal 2. This was the game that got me addicted back on the PSX. The thing that amazed me about the game was that it could be a simple car combat game, but it also incorporated fighting game mechanics with combos and hidden level designs which really made the game deep. If this game didn’t do so well, the developer would never have created God of War, etc. No one else has done this right since.
If you could be any video game character, who would it be?
Kratos. The Guy kicks much ass. He can kill and conquer Gods. Enough said.
What do you predict will be the “next big thing” in gaming?
Not really sure, indie games are making a sudden impact on the 360 and PC. I think the 360 will keep chugging along. I think the market right now is dictating what is released on what systems. The higher the production costs for games, the better the system they’ll release it for. I’m really excited to see what happens in the future.
What was the Achievement that gave you the most satisfaction to earn?
I can really care less about Achievements. I guess really the only achievement that I enjoyed getting was in Rainbow Six Vegas and it was getting a ten kill streak, which for the way I play is hard.
You own both a PS3 and XBOX 360 – Do you notice a difference at all in the graphics/gameplay?
The only thing I notice really is that the PS3 games install parts of the games on the hard drive. They do this for two reasons; faster loading and more content. The only problem I’ve seen with this is that it usually takes a couple of minutes to install the game on the hard drive.
Which console is getting the most play time?
The 360 is. I am only buying the PS3 exclusives and maybe some PSN games like Flow and Pain, which are good games. This might change if the 360 red rings.
Ok. One game. One shot. Who would you play against, who wins and what game are you playing?
Already happened. I played Deac in NFL 2k5 and beat him. It was so bad that he claimed his daughter played a series.
Any final thoughts, words?
Props to Deacon, my fellow mods, and all of the community at Unscripted360! Please feel free to send me friend requests. I’m a balanced player, balanced on fun and competitive. It’s all about having fun on Live. I wish I could attend the podcasts but I’m never around to call in.
