360 HD DVD player price drops to $129
US, Aussie, New Zealand and Canada gamers take note of a price drop to the Xbox 360 HD DVD player. It’s now $129.99 from its previous price of $179.99. I’m not sure why it’s not at $99 now especially considering so many shifts in studio support that just about signal a premature demise of the format. Make sure you read my Truth Serum on format wars discussing a bit about this.
For those of you really considering this now, be advised that you can often find these players even cheaper with a little bit of interweb investigating. Another quick note is that you can still use the 5 free HD DVDs offer with the purchase of an HD DVD player.

I’m not buying, I’m not looking for a Collectors item. I’m waiting for the price slashes on Blu-Ray and not the out dated 1.0 or 1.1 models either. Make sure your not stuck on that if you go Blu-Ray, look for the 2.0 versions.

I have the player, yea, I’ll probably lose the format war, but w/e, I wanted a high-def player, and at the time, it was the easiest way for me to go, and after dealing with both, I like hd-dvd better. I enjoyed and am still enjoying it. And by the time it is obsolete, I’ll be ready to buy a new player of bigger and better things anyways, or a dual format one….

I think compared together HD is better than Blu-Ray. I think Blu-Ray rushed to out there, but sadly the better one doesn’t always win. HD will take its place next to Beta now. Just look at everything before you buy your Blu-Ray, cause a good deal is not always a good deal!

yeah silly studios! hd dvd is clearly better for the consumer but what do these stupid studios do? they flock to the more expensive blu-ray.

Bottom line, both HD-DVD and Blue Ray are going back and forth with price cuts, bundles, movie rights, etc. and we as the consumer are caught in the middle of all of this.
Hard to tell who’s winning or losing this war..

Toshiba should look into getting a HD-DVD burner for the PC that is a very good price and cheap media discs. This definately would boost the interest in HD-DVD player drives…if not for movies….data storage.

This is exciting, since I won’t be opening the one I won from majornelson (I didn’t realize it was autographed, too! {I have finally posted pics, BTW}).
Awesome. Maybe this weekend’s first paycheck will finally go to good use!
