Free Xbox Live Arcade Title For Your Trouble
In a letter to all Xbox Live members, Marc Whitten details the plans to compensate for all the Xbox Live troubles that have plagued the service for the past few weeks. Marc Whitten is the Xbox Live General Manager.
Dear Xbox LIVE Members:
During this past holiday season you helped us break a number of Xbox LIVE records. This included our largest sign-up of new members to Xbox LIVE in our 5 year history and just yesterday you broke the record for the single biggest day of concurrent members ever on the service.
As a result of this massive increase in usage we know that some of you experienced intermittent Xbox LIVE issues over the holiday break. While the service was not completely offline at any given time, we are disappointed in our performance. I would like to take this moment to thank you each and every one of you for your patience and understanding as our team has worked around the clock to return the service to a stable state.
At the same time we would like to offer a token of our appreciation to all of you in celebration of record success for the service. And as a thank you for your loyalty during this holiday period, we will be offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge. In the coming weeks we will be sharing the specific details of this offer with you.
Thank you again for helping make Xbox LIVE everything that it is today!
Which Xbox Live Arcade game? Are you happy with this plan?

lmao Yaris 2. it won’t be that but a promotional game wouldn’t be a stretch. it’ll be a game that CAN be free. that includes existing games and new games that fit the bill of what i outlined.
publishers aren’t keen on making free Arcade games and if MS wants them to be free some $ incentive has to exchange hands. so the likelihood of it being a big title is slim. it’ll be from a small, independent studio if it’s a new one more than likely.
i know a friend is working on an Xbox Live Arcade title for January that would be a good choice. still, don’t expect a War Worlds or any other big name like that.

Great idea by Microsoft!
I agree with TXPaladin, it would be better if they just gave away at least 800 points and let the community choose which arcade title they want. In just hope its something worth playing.
Does anybody know when that new Street Fighter is coming to the Xbox Arcade?

Maybe we will be all lucky and they will give us Shrek!!!

i would like it more if i would get another 4-5 days of xbox live, so that i can play some more doa.
i’ll probably dont like the arcade game anyway, and maybe there was already a free release planned. And they’re just using this as a safeguard.
i duno. Maybe it’s because im dutch.

I hope it’s:
A) Not a game I already have (anyone else expecting Geometry Wars?)
B) Not a game that bites.

What the heck ever happend to War World btw? and Hoopworld, remember that one?? Maybe they’ll resurrect that title and give it away as the free game.

I think a better solution would be 800 pts so we could choose something we don’t already have; that’s a win-win situation. But I still think it’s a great thing they’re doing, regardless; customer service at it’s best, at least the effort’s there.

I own half the arcade games out, this makes me a little worried.

I would love to see Geometry Wars too NuAngel.
Giving away 800 Microsoft points to every XBL user for gold and silver is just silly, microsoft won’t even dream of doing that, out of the 8 million people or more that have XBL, how many do you think are active gamertags? in my books not many and microsoft will lose money, plan and simple.
