Things are looking very good in Soul Calibur IV land.  These new screenshots are very impressive and when you add that fact to having Yoda himself in the game, then it makes for an interesting game to watch for.  The new set of screens confirms the appearance of Maxi, Mina and Yun-Seong as playable characters and provides a glimpse of two new never-before-seen environments.

I posted earlier in the message boards about this new title from EA Sports.  It’s called FaceBreaker and it’s an arcade style boxing game which is light years away from what we’ve all grown accustomed to in the Fight Night series.  The website for FaceBreaker has just gone live a day ahead of the initial target.  Here’s a new screenshot for the game that no one else has seen outside of the official site.

“We’re very excited to announce FaceBreaker, an all-new franchise from EA SPORTS that is fun, fresh and innovative,” said Peter Moore, president, EA SPORTS.  “FaceBreaker reinvigorates one of the great genres in sports videogames. Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup. In no time at all, you’ll be picking up the controllers and knocking your opponent around the ring, smashing faces, and having a riot.”

It’s time for an injection of that special serum into a subject that I’m sure is a personal one for many of you.  You don’t read very much about it but it affects everyone who owns an Xbox 360.  DRM, as most of you will recognize it, stands for Digital Rights Management.  It is a technology used by many publishers and copyright holders to limit the use of digital content/devices and in some cases restrict use altogether.  I’m here to say that it sucks especially when talking about how it affects some Xbox 360 owners.

Do you really own the things that you download from the Xbox Live Marketplace?  Is that really your copy of Rez HD that you purchased from the Xbox Live Arcade?  The short answer should be yes after you’ve obviously spent your Microsoft Points to obtain them.  However, the long answer is that instead you’ve been punked by the DRM system currently in place on the Xbox 360.

No, you don’t own that content or rather you do until you have to replace your console through the repair process or some other reason.  Repairs, new purchase Elite data transfers…whatever the reason you’ve ended up with a new console, it results in being punked by DRM.

Perhaps the most overlooked launch title during the debut of the Xbox 360 was Condemned: Criminal Origins.  I loved the suspense and freaky mannequin moments that the game delivered.  It was one of the more frightening yet glorious experiences I’ve had with a launch title on any system.  I still remember how cool the internet experience was around the game.  You could take part in the case right from the interweb.  SEGA and Monolith Productions managed to capture one of those rare moments when the media surrounding a title was just as intriguing as the game.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot

I was very excited when SEGA and Monolith announced the sequel.  Ethan Thomas is back.  I’m here to let you know the website is up for Condemned 2: Bloodshot and it has a few creepy things for you to check out.  It’s not as engaging as the original site (I feel for you if you misssed out on it) but it gives some good info about the sequel.  I hope that Monolith brings the same edge-of-your-seat insanity that the original managed to deliver.  Nothing is as it seems.  Break out the case files!

Condemned 2: Bloodshot is slated to release on March 11, 2008 here in the US and on March 14, 2008 for Europe.

Burnout Paradise

Developer: Criterion Studios
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Rating Guide: How I Review Games

Guest writer: Dave ‘DJSteel’

Review:

Ever since the original Xbox, I have been on the look out for the sleeper hits that either fellow gamers or reviewers might have recommended. For the most part, their recommendations have been mediocre at best because I feel sleeper hits are a personal taste.  What is good for you may not be good for me.  That is my motto for sleeper hits.  Now the title that got me looking around for sleeper hits was Burnout.  The first two installments were minor subtle releases that received a huge fanfare. The racing parts in these titles were mediocre to say the least, especially when compared to the big hitters in the racing genre like Project Gotham Racing or Gran Turismo. This was mainly due to the generic car models and the arcade-like handling.

This may come as a surprise to many of you and well, perhaps all of you but Ubisoft just released some new downloadable content for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.  It’s called the Co-op Collection and it includes 5 new co-op campaign missions and new Achievements.  In total there are nine (9) new maps and nine (9) new Achievements which net a total of 125 additional achievement points.  This new content costs 800 Microsoft Points and you can get the details at the link above.

Along with the Co-op Collection is the More Guns Pack.  It’s a collection of seven (7) weapons for the single player quick mission mode and it’s available to download for free!  Yeah, Ubisoft threw in a freebie.  Thanks Mocha Jive for the head’s up my dear.  If you’re still into GRAW2, head out and download the new content.

Judging from the sexy box art, I knew Burnout Paradise had the potential to kick serious amounts of hindparts.  So it’s no surprise that it’s filling up gamer central with tons of fun already.  That’s exactly why it secures a spot as the Play of the Week for U360 drivers out there.

I’ve yet to make my way onto the tracks to cause massive chaos but that shouldn’t stop any of you from dishing out any adrenaline-filled punishment Burnout style.

I’m sure you’d like to think of animals and wildlife after reading who’s next in line for a Showcase at U360 but you might be in for a surprise.

Or maybe not.  There’s only one way to find out though.

MasterGazelle

So MasterGazelle, What is your life like outside of gaming?

There’s a life outside of gaming?  Seriously though, life is never dull.  As a father of 4, there’s always something going on. Such as Cooking, cleaning, organizing, school trips, sorting out disagreements, help with homework, the odd cold & cough. It’s amazing that I have time for college as well.

Obviously, the children love games and my wife is also a gamer (MistressKaneda).  I love films, which I have been collecting since I was 12 years old.  That is rubbing off on the children.  It’s nice to see as they get older, that they can be introduced to a greater variety of films.  They always want to discuss their impressions.
