Not done giving this holiday season? Stuck on finding out the perfect gift for that Xbox 360 owner in your life? Reach into your generosity bag then and give the gift of Microsoft Points. Microsoft is running a beta of this program that allows you to send points directly to a friend. You’ll need the Windows Live ID of the friend in order to gift the points.
This does not include any of your current Microsoft Points balance! You must buy any of the 3 bundles (2000, 1000, or 500) as point gifts. You should already be familiar with the prices of each pack. This service is supported by Xbox Live, Zune and Games for Windows - Live naturally so the giving isn’t limited.

Click here to start your gift of Microsoft Points to your closest friend. Make sure your friend is in the US though because as of right now this program is US only.

I agree that you should be able to choose any amount you want, but it is still nice to have the option even if the amounts are limited.

Looks like they might have gotten scared by Nintendo, as the Wii has had this feature for awhile now. Though with them you can send points or buy a game off their marketplace and send it as a gift. Which, personally, I like more than sending points. However, this is a great step in the right direction. WTG Microsoft…now…just to wait till it comes my way.

I like the points and not the idea of sending a game. What if the person doesn’t care for Square Pants? Can you return the game or exchange it? I like the idea and the ability to pick a gamer pic pac, like the ultra cool U360 set for example or select a song from the Zune Marketplace or select any other game, not to mention you get enough saved you could pick up one of the original titles now.

Yup.. with the Wii, the person that gets it has the option to refuse the gift and your points are refunded to you.
