Showcase - kiki kat
You’re a part of The Blue Skittle staff. Give us some scoop on what you do for the magazine.
At The Blue Skittle (TBS) I do a little of just about everything! As is my role in life, my role for TBS is pretty versatile. I write two monthly features; a podcast profile and a gamer profile. I am also an editor extraordinaire. This involves helping to develop concepts as well as the feelings within an article. Ooopy likes to refer to me as the ‘touchy feely’ editor since I try and help the writer relate more to the feelings people can derive from an article.
Another very important role I have is keeping Ooopy on track with her thoughts. She has a certain writing skill that we refer to as ‘Ooopyisms’ which don’t always translate well; so I attack her writings and interpret them. I am also involved in keeping the magazine and its contents organized. It can be tough to keep so many talented people on track at times.
So basically, I write, edit, and assist in the monthly production of the magazine. I am usually listed in the credits of the magazine as an executive editor/production assistant/writer.
What was the inspiration behind the name Blue Skittle?
Ooopy, a founder of TBS was the one who named the magazine. It all comes from people referring to the blue X button on the Xbox controller as the blue skittle. I remember hearing it all the time when I played Rainbow Six — c’mon people, ready up! Press the blue skittle!

What has your experience as a GamerchiX been like for you?
I really enjoy being a GamerchiX (XGX). I have definitely met a lot more gamers that are female because of it then I would have if it hadn’t been created. I met Ooopy through the XGX forums and most likely wouldn’t have come in contact with her if it wasn’t for XGX; which means I most likely wouldn’t have been a part of TBS! I also get a lot of ideas for articles from the GamerchiX because we are a talkative bunch!
Which title is getting the most playing time on your Xbox 360?
The non-arcade game that is getting played the most would probably be Rock Band. I absolutely love that game. I set up a band with my son and a couple of his friends that we called “The Beach Bums” and we have had a blast jamming with each other on weekends and holidays. I am still thrilled that I can earn achievements by playing a game that actually encourages me to sing. I randomly break into song at work all the time and I never get any credit or props for it.

Ooopy… I play to win! Not sit around laughing!
Goon360 - oh man… I hope it gets here soon! I am so psyched for that game!
NuAngel - Yeah, that shout-out from Trixie was one of those social experiments. You know.. when the cool kids at school all decide to get together and ‘re-make’ the nerdiest chick in school and try and make her popular? Just one of those cruel jokes that Trixie finds so funny
(it was pretty cool wasn’t it!!)
