Spike VGA’s - Painted Girls
It was pretty clever of Spike to resort to the fancy painted girl trick in order to wow the crowd. That’s much better than keeping it about the games I say and it always works. Who wants it just about games anyway right?
How many of you watched the Spike Video Game Awards? I love Samuel Jackson but these awards do no justice to video games. However, there were painted girls and I guess that makes it all better. In fact, it was the best part about the show. Rainbow Six Vegas 2? Meh. Kid Rock? Double Meh. That doesn’t say much about the show I know but at least there were painted girls. I have a sudden urge to play Rock Band, don’t you? Click here for the video of the painted VGA girls.

Afro Samurai FTW!!!…lol…

Painted Girls is why I care about the VGA’s lol. I didn’t want to ignore it because everybody I know avoided it like the plague. They should have had Tommy and his crew play different music threw out the awards, I really did care for anybody that preformed. What do yall feel would make a good gaming awards? Do you even care for one?
December 9th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
Spike VGA disgust me to no end. I doubt i’d even consider it if I was being offered money. I’d boycot the damn thing if I could, a let down to gamers everywhere.
December 9th, 2007 at 11:08 pm
Edit: I really DIDN’T care for anybody that performed
December 9th, 2007 at 11:09 pm
i agree Baroness. but they don’t cater to gamers at all. they cater to advertisers and that’s the business unfortunately.
@USB, i’d love to see a legit gaming awards event but truly i don’t think gamers are that outgoing to stage such an event. gamers are really just to themselves outside of expos.
December 9th, 2007 at 11:30 pm
Speak for yourself: I’m outgoing!
December 9th, 2007 at 11:38 pm
so am i Hartman lol..but we’re a minority. but i really would love it if gaming were more “mainstream” to where we could have a legit award event.

Deacon is a pervert.
Don’t remind me that girls exist.

Who cares. The awards may be given out by celebrity’s and their may be advertisments, but there isn’t an award show without them. The fact is, gamers still decide what happens during the show, although you’ll only see a few during the show.
Everyone keeps saying the VGA’s misrepresent gamers…Well, what do you gamers want? I watched a few minutes of the show before recording it and I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, or anything that made me ashamed to be a gamer. It’s just stupid how people get so pissed off at the VGA’s when there still is a lot on the show that relates to gamers.
You’ve gotta remember that is has to appeal to a wider audience, and that audience is not the ‘gamer’ that sits in his parents basement playing on a futon.

gamers don’t decide the awards nor what happens during the show lol. but i agree with you Jokar, it has to target a much different audience. this is TV ya know. it has to add the fluff etc like these painted girls
@Cleric, i’m trying to do my best haha

I think I watched last year’s Spike video game awards. It was alright. I missed this year’s awards though.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:20 am
The painted girls were the best part!
December 10th, 2007 at 9:23 am
[...] weekend didn’t bring any new movies. I passed on the Golden Compass but I did get to see some painted girls and I guess that’s always a treat. This is the first Monday of my Heroes withdrawal. [...]

Gripman they play the awards about 100 times more, but for your own mental health I wouldn’t advise watching it.
I really would like to find the people watching this and slap them, the VGAs are trash. The celebrities pretending to be gamers are painfully poor at pretending, did you hear EA’s speech while excepting Madden!? Garbage is what they are, Deaconblade you are completely right, it’s like watching an incredibly long and awkward advertisement.
December 10th, 2007 at 10:58 am
yep that’s what happens Intangible when your audience are the advertisers. the games, gamers are a distant last place. does anyone think Samuel Jackson when thinking of video games? how many classic games has Samuel Jackson done the voice work for?
not to mention Spike TV (an MTV Network) gives Rock Band (an MTV game) the win in both musical categories…and Harmonix studio of the year. that’s probably not an accident lol
December 10th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
Deac, Geoff was on Major’s show and said that all awards are determined by the gaming sites and gaming journalists like himself. So in a way they do decide what happens during the show…except for that god awful music…and a few other things.
December 10th, 2007 at 2:44 pm
and you believe Geoff? lol they’re determined by Spike, MTV affiliates, and other totally clueless people like Geoff himself lol.
IGN had no say, Gamespot had no say, 1UP had no say. so i’d be interested to see a list of these “gaming sites/journalists” lol
December 10th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
I watched two parts of the show on YouTube and was already sick by how everything was presented. The ads are so annoying, and so was the guy reading them.
“How will you ever be able to face your friends or family again?”
Yeah, stfu.
December 10th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
but at least they had painted girls Grip
December 10th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
Yeah. lol
December 10th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
WTF, that’s messed up. He said Gamespot and 1UP were part of the judging…It’s all a conspiracy.
December 10th, 2007 at 3:20 pm
oh i get it..it’s a secret panel then where they can’t reveal themselves? haha
as much as i love Harmonix…why exactly did it get studio of the year? my point. these awards are just something to make ya laugh every once in a while when needed. nothing i’d be happy about if i’m a publisher or developer.
December 10th, 2007 at 5:05 pm
I plan on watching one of the re-runs… but i’m not holding out too much hope for a good awards show. GTR’s seem to be building more hype than this!
December 10th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
All I know is that what little of the show I saw had metric tons of limburger. The bad cheese… lol
I didn’t mind the painted girls too much though. I don’t think too many guys would disagree.
December 11th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
I know I’m late commenting on this but I watched Spike’s Video Game Awards and I didn’t think it was as bad as people said it was. They could’ve picked better performers at least (and the paint girls were FINE!!!!)
And there aren’t too many televised award shows for games that are on right now. Even G4 limited their video games awards show to a pretend election (which sucked). So I would say at least be appreciative of the fact that someone thought it was a good idea to make an awards show for gameers even if it wasn’t perfect.
December 12th, 2007 at 12:00 pm
Why should we be appreciative? You act like Spike is doing this out of the goodness of their heart. From the sheer amount of blatant advertising in and out of commercials they must rake in a killing from this joke of an awards show.
December 13th, 2007 at 9:56 am
About the only reason to watch this year.
