Important - Changing Live ID Feature Issues
The Fall Dashboard Update is being released tomorrow and I have some important news for those of you interested in trying out the new feature enabling you to change the Windows Live ID associated with your account. Here’s the news from TriXie.
“If you change the Live ID associated with your gamertag (as the Dash update allows you to do), you will lose all of your forum posts, CUL and icons. All your posts will appear as ‘anonymous’. We’re hard at work on a fix, but despite the team working on it all weekend, we don’t have a fix ready to go out with the update.”
So if you’re a frequent user of the message boards at Xbox.com, you might want to hold off on using this particular feature until a fix is released. I know some of you love those icons and you love that Community User Level (CUL) so just hang tight until word comes down that the issue is resolved. I’ll keep you posted once TriXie updates everyone on the situation.
Again, do not change your Windows Live ID tomorrow if you want to keep your forum posts, CUL and icons.
[Edit December 5] There is a fix being implemented for this at 1:30 AM PST December 6. It is not retroactive so those of you who have lost your posts, CUL or icons will not get them back. The forums at Xbox.com will be down to implement this fix.
