Edition Examiner - Scene It? LCA

I know what you’re thinking.  Why am I doing an Edition Examiner on this and it doesn’t have a collector’s or limited edition label on it?  Well, I’m doing it because the way this game is packaged, presented and what’s inside is just so much more than a regular game. I had a big smile on my face while I opened it.

With that said, it’s time to set the stage for Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action.  After receiving this game last night, it deserves a little more shine.

Scene It?  Scene It?  Scene It?  Scene It?

The Edition Examiner covers two important things; craftsmanship and extras.  I’ll use a 5-point scale to gauge whether these types of editions are truly worthy of being called such or in this case should have been called such.

Craftmanship - Scene It? Lights, Camera Action comes in a nice dual box enclosed in a plastic outer shell.  The shell is cool with all the graphics of the game on it which gives you the usual showcasing of what it’s about.  The boxes inside are simple gift wrap type boxes so there’s nothing special.  The best part about them though is that they were easy to open unlike most accessory packaging.

If you open the boxes to look on the outside of them, you’ll see a quick look at how to connect the game.  That was a nice touch.  The only downside to the design of the game ofcourse is that you won’t be able to file it away neatly next to your other games. (if you have a game shelf)  It’ll have to sit alone on the shelf somewhere and perhaps that’s a good thing because it’s meant to stand out.

Extras - You get 4 wireless Big Button Pads, AA batteries and an infrared receiver cable.  The Big Button Pads are designed perfectly.  The different colors of each really stand out almost making the “big button” a character in itself.  The colors are red, blue, green and yellow for obvious reasons.  If you lose sight of the colors on the big button, then you can flip them over as the back sides are colored as well.  They feel and control great!

Edition Examiner Result - I was really impressed with the way Scene It? was presented.  There are a lot of people who think the way a game is presented is trivial but I am obviously not one of those people.  The visual style of a game and its packaging is an important part of the entire experience from sight to purchase.

Scene It? could’ve been a boring package but instead it was exciting to see and open.  I was really like a little kid on my birthday opening it.  Stay tuned for more on Scene It? very soon.

5 outta 5
