Guitar Hero III Street Date Broken
This may come as a surprise to maybe one or two of you out there but it’s true. There are players enjoying some good old fashioned rock right now over a week before the game is set to release. In recent history across the interweb, we all know that street dates aren’t what they used to be as every little store in Jumpaloo City tends to break them.
This time the culprit is a Meijer’s store in Michigan that decided to initiate rock sequences a bit early. I ran across one such person in the Guitar Hero III forums on Xbox.com with the pretty little gamercard icon. I’ve since locked the thread due to the rampant flames that were starting. So, Michigan residents rejoice and be a legend before many.
One thing to note is that the Achievements have been restricted from sight once more which seems to be the “punishment” for those who get games prior to the street date. If you remember, U360 broke the scoop on the Halo 3 Achievement lockdown detailing how they weren’t viewable until the official launch. It appears the same lockdown is in effect with GH3.

I wish one of the stores in my tiny town would mess up…
::shoves monitor off desk and leaves the bank to try and smooth talk employees at local stores::

If a game is done early and in stores, why can’t they just sell it? Just asking.

well it’s like a movie release date. you aren’t supposed to show it early. figures etc are all based on it that proposed date ya know.

I get it
1 more question: I just bought guitar hero 2 about 3 months ago are they gonna sell the game alone on the 28th?

Street dates are going to be broken until MS slams the big fine down.
They should have with Halo 3 and they should with GH: III Stores have the bundles in stock now and even the outside of the box has a huge sticker do not sell befpre Oct. 30th. Also it does look as though the only way to get the game first is with the guitar in the bundle. Played the 7 song demo and it is really good.

I got the demo from. It is insane, great song choices but I still am no good at GH2 which makes me want to wait on GH3. Right now though we love the demo. I want to know how good the new wireless guitar is b4 I buy it :-
Also 7 songs, I only played 4 of them What are the 7 songs?

In my opinion, if companies don’t want street dates broken, they shouldn’t have games arriving weeks ahead of time. Unless there is some legal agreement between the publisher and the store, there’s nothing that says that they can’t sell it. Stupid to send the stuff out so early if you aren’t intending to have it sold.
Kind of annoying though, that redoctane.com hasn’t sent my pre-order that early

Any retail store that seels games do have an agreement not to break the street date. It’s a contract and they need to ship product early. Music and DVD’s are shipped 2-3 weeks prior to release date but the street date is kept. I used to work as a District Manager of a huge retail game store and the dates are there for a reason.
The reason redoctane.com is not going to send you a copy the same time they ship to stores becuase they are a store themselves. Only retailers get product early so they can get ready for the ship date.
