This weekend I finally got some time to dig into The Orange Box and you can tell from this article that there’s at least one gem inside. Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 are both very good but the game that stands out amongst them all is Portal. I talked about it a bit during Episode #51 because it’s just that much fun.
I’ll be checking out more of Team Fortress 2 this week so stay tuned for a possible Unscripted Nights with it! In the meantime, check out the Play of the Week, Portal, if you have a copy of The Orange Box. The aperture gun, creating portals and solving puzzles is incredibly addictive.

If by gimmick you mean fun, then yes.

I’m on Test Chamber 14, but then I stopped to begin playing through Half-Life 2 for the first time since nearly three years ago, and then of course finally see the continuation of the story is Episodes 1 and 2! I haven’t even touched my PGR4 that is sitting here.

Portal was awesome indeed. I Finished the advance maps last night which weren’t too tough, but challenging non the less. I played a bit of TF2 for a small duration one night and discovered that it would be ALOT of fun with a group of friends
Im most certainly down this Friday to play.

Did someone say Unscripted Night? Count me in! I’m looking forward to playing TF2 online with the Unscripted crew.

Portal is such a nice gameplay idea that I think that they should have published it as extra stand-alone game for the Xbox with much more levels, and gameplay mods. Even a map editor, with which you could share your creations just like in Halo, would have been possible looking at the simple structure of Portal.
I’m really looking forward to the release of Portal 2, once Valve has realized that player DO want to player puzzle-shooters that give you some time to think about what you do without shooting everyone down 24/7.
