Do you want to be amongst the first to play Call of Duy 4: Modern Warfare? Activision and Infinity Ward are inviting players to be amongst the first to play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare at select Gamestop locations. This goes down on Wednesday, October 17th. Those who get there at 2100 hrs (9:00pm, local standard time) will get the chance to try out the single player version before the game’s release on November 6th.
The locations chosen for this event are Dallas, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Minneapolis. You can find out the details at each location here. Make sure you’re 17 years of age or older because COD4 is an M rated title.

I just checked and the location picked is actually my local GameStop, the one that I’ve gone to for 8 years now. They were one of the 4 Funcolands to have a midnight launch of the Dreamcast way back in the day and had Sable from WWF and some other celebrities. This should be pretty sweet.

D’oh! If I still lived in Houston, I would go to that event. The Woodlands mall area wasn’t that far from my home.

Great Time last night!
KFAN was streaming the whole thing live online.
GameInformer was there taking pictures (I think).
FullThrottle was there giving away energy drinks.
Activision was there (of course) hosting the whole thing under a camo tent.
I got there a lil late and had to wait at the end of the line of about 30-35 people.
They took about 6-9 people in and then as they left more people could come in.
Gamestop employee’s came out and handed out their free poster pack, which I will more than likely give away.
I had to wait awhile, again, I was at the back of the line.
First they carded us (some kids came with their parents to get in), put a wristband on us and gave us a cover for the game that has the entire activision team’s signatures printed on it.
(One kid came out of the store with it tucked into a dvd case, everyone thought he had the game, funny stuff.)
They alloted you 3 minutes of playing time on what I assume is the first level. (The level they made the demo video’s with)
Then you could just hang out and watch people play some more or try you luck against someone by shooting velco nerf at the cutout (with the velco vest wrapped on it) Person with the high score got a prize. In my case I tied my opponent. I was given a choice of a COD4 water bottle, demos of Quake Wars:Enemy Territories and I think a Tony Hawk game (demos wtf, aren’t those downloadable?) or a COD4 Hat. I went with the Hat. On the way out you could sign up to win “some cool stuff” from KFAN (Actual quote from the KFAN guy)
You could get in line to play again if you wanted to. I chose to go home as I already had my swag.
I would definently go to more events like this at Gamestop.
I did not see UNSCleric, or more importantly he did not see me as I have no idea what he looks like.
I even showed up wearing my Skull and wrench bone shirt like I said I would. Maybe he didn’t get my forum PM or maybe he couldn’t make it. Or maybe I was talking to him the entire time and didn’t even realize it. Who knows?
I only took one picture at that was of the line while I was in the back of the line. I didn’t feel it was approiate to take pictures in the store at they already had GameInformer (I think) taking those pictures, or it could have been activision doing so.
All in all, Great Night!
