Bungie Studios Goes Independent
Sometimes I marvel at how I get these things right when the interweb starts spinning with rumors. In my recent article, Bungie Leaving Microsoft - So What, I predicted that this was nothing more than the usual “we want to explore our creativity” type of thing. I submit to you the following quote from my article.
“They may have a case of the “big head” disease and want to all form their own little independent company that allows them to better showcase their creativity etc…” said Deacon.
And now I present to you the words from Bungie Studios in today’s press release detailing the Bungie and Microsoft separation.
“This exciting evolution of our relationship with Microsoft will enable us to expand both creatively and organizationally in our mission to create world-class games,” said Harold Ryan, studio head for Bungie.
Sound like something you’ve already heard? I simply say good luck to them but if you read the rest of my original article, you’ll understand where this all might lead.

Good call Deac.
“I say…..let’em crash!”. Thank you Bungie for Halo (except for the 3 years and only 11 maps part), it’s been fun but for me that tune is starting to be played out. Bring on Call of Duty 4! Bring on Mass Effect! H3 made some leaps in next-gen gaming but I’m waiting for that next ‘wow I just crapped my pants this game is so amazing’ experience. Didn’t happen with H3 like it did with Gears (or H2 for that matter) but with all the great titles slated to come out between now and whenever GTA4 comes out, I think the 360 and its gamers have nothing to worry about.

most of this stuff is usually just smoke and mirrors. there’s nothing Bungie will make in the future that defines them as this “independent company” they so crave. lesson should be learned with Bizarre who realized being independent is a beyotch.
they’re just a little too confident in my opinion. are you interested in the next Bungie title that’s not named Halo 4, 5 or whatever? honestly?
my point. i hope they prove us all wrong though and they create the next gaming icon.

I’m interested if it takes place in the Halo universe at all, which I believe it will.

same here Cleric. and i think millions of fans are like that. i’ll refer to my original article in a few years though to see how this ended up lol

Seems like a good deal for both as the 360 will be it’s lead programmer.

::starts moving do not cross tape::
“nothing to see here folks…move along”
As I said eariler, after reading Deac’s post…I don’t feel bad about it at all, perspective makes a huge diffrence in how you’ll feel about this…that and wearing boxers instead of briefs…

I love how these crazy internet rumors always end up being true 99% of the time. Next time tell me that SCEA and MS are combining forces to develop the ultimate gaming platform and I WILL believe it!

The rumors earlier this week were blown way of proportion as to what actually happened.

every rumor has truth to it. especially interweb rumor.
