Colin McRae Dies
I came across this news in the forums today. I know many of you enjoyed the recently released DiRT so you will recognize this name as it’s been the name of the most popular rally racing series in video games. The man behind the Codemasters franchise, Colin McRae, was killed in a helicopter crash near his home in Scotland. Colin McRae was a former World Rally Champion and easily the most popular amongst video game fans.
He was an icon in the sport. I want to extend my prayers to his family. I hope that they get through this time.

I saw this a few hours ago on a non-gaming board over at GameFAQs.com, it’s sad. His five year old son and two others died too.

i’m not a gamer, but have seen colin on many occasions competing in wrc in england. he was the ultimate driver. schumacher is good but couldnt even hold a torch to the talent of colin. someone who can have an accident and injure his hand , then tell doctors to amputate his finger so he can compete ,has guts and determination. colin is a talent that cannot be replaced. charisma, fearless ,competitive and an hero. he will be missed . deepest sympathy to alison, jimmy and alister and the whole mcrae clan, my thoughts are with you all. from a mcrae fan who’s been there from the begining. micky d xx

I’ve just heard tragic news. I’m devastated. Colin McRea is one of my all time heroes. I wish to extend my sympathy to his wife, family and friends at this time. Colin is the person who first got me into watching WRC and have been an avid follower of both WRC and his career. May he rest in peace. The world has lost a great man and an inspiration to many people. Legend. xx

well said everyone.
@Cleric, i wanted to make sure U360 shared its sympathies. Colin was rally gaming to us video heads and he was much more to those outside of gaming.
hopefully other gaming sites find it important enough to share with their communities. or they can join us in wishing his family and friends well.

This is horrible news. I love Colin McRae and this is very hard news for me to swallow. Myself and the rest of the crew from http://www.live-360.net would like to wish his family well through these hard times.

Shocked an so young. He was the same age as me and his son was about the same age as my daughter. Just a shock to hear someone dying like that. Really sad.

I wasn’t slamming you for reporting it or anything, I just wanted to detail where I heard it, so that everybody knew this isn’t a thing only gamers care about.
