Red Rings of Death Strike U360!
I honestly can’t believe it. I actually got a good laugh at it while I sat there turning my console on and off and on and off trying to fight what I was witnessing. I was trying to convince myself that this wasn’t happening to me especially so close to the Halo 3 launch. I was trying to close my eyes and file this away as just some bad, bad dream. But alas, it was no dream. And how fitting was it that only weeks prior I had changed my original faceplate to the Halo faceplate to prepare my console for Master Chief’s arrival. Was the Spartan too much for my Xbox 360 to handle?
At approximately 9:35PM Central Standard Time, my Xbox 360 console suffered an untimely death. It had come down with rings…red rings…red rings of death. I was able to gather up 3 Medal of Honor Airborne Achievements before it fell ill. I was out to get just one more Achievement before calling it a night but then it happened. A strange noise followed by an interesting red ring display had come upon my console. I was all too familiar with this display. Although one unfamiliar with the 360 Laws (#24) might have called this a light show, I was smart enough to realize it meant the end.
It is with deep sorrow that I now pay this video tribute to one of my closest friends, the Xbox 360. I hope soon that we shall play together again. Although your demise was at the most inconvenient of times, I still love you. I shall now see how effective the new warranty really is.

Yeah mines died too but I revived it, then it died again lol
Try the “towel trick”, look it up on youtube, it actually works so you can get some gaming in before your coffin comes, that’s what I did, I just boxed the boy up today

That sucks Deac. My first Xbox 360 died the minute the Halo 3 Beta was out in June. I put in Crackdown, it froze at the main menu where you go to select downloads. So I was like “hmm, whatever”, didnt think much of it. But then when I turned it on again I get the ‘3 Red Lights of Death’. Perfect timing…

Dude, that sucks. Welcome to the group.
Just for a last shot, try unplugging it for a couple mins from the wall in case it is just a simple ‘funky state’ and not the hardware failure. Other than that, I hope your turnaround time isn’t that long.

Yeah, as Souf mentioned, try the towel trick for a few extra days of gaming. It worked for me.

The towel trick does work, I’ve seen it three times in person.

Good luck… Mine went down a in mid-August and I’m STILL waiting for the empty box to show up to send my 360 in. I’ve had a UPS tracking number for 3 weeks now that doesn’t work and got some Indian lady on the phone when I called to ask what was going on and she told me that it shipped on 9/9/09.
Yes folks, that is most definitely a Sunday. Anyone else think I’m being snowballed here?
