I honestly can’t believe it. I actually got a good laugh at it while I sat there turning my console on and off and on and off trying to fight what I was witnessing. I was trying to convince myself that this wasn’t happening to me especially so close to the Halo 3 launch. I was trying to close my eyes and file this away as just some bad, bad dream. But alas, it was no dream. And how fitting was it that only weeks prior I had changed my original faceplate to the Halo faceplate to prepare my console for Master Chief’s arrival. Was the Spartan too much for my Xbox 360 to handle?
At approximately 9:35PM Central Standard Time, my Xbox 360 console suffered an untimely death. It had come down with rings…red rings…red rings of death. I was able to gather up 3 Medal of Honor Airborne Achievements before it fell ill. I was out to get just one more Achievement before calling it a night but then it happened. A strange noise followed by an interesting red ring display had come upon my console. I was all too familiar with this display. Although one unfamiliar with the 360 Laws (#24) might have called this a light show, I was smart enough to realize it meant the end.
It is with deep sorrow that I now pay this video tribute to one of my closest friends, the Xbox 360. I hope soon that we shall play together again. Although your demise was at the most inconvenient of times, I still love you. I shall now see how effective the new warranty really is.

I blame the EA game personally.
Anyway, if this were to happen to me, I’d be buying a new system before I miss out on Halo 3 launch day.
Good luck man, this is sad.
September 13th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
i’d buy one but i lack the necessary $ to do that lol. otherwise i’d buy the Halo 3 one…fitting since i sported the Halo faceplate ya know. but damn this blows.
September 13th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
I’d be using a credit card, anything.
You’re an MVP though, I don’t see why MS can’t throw one your way.
September 13th, 2007 at 11:52 pm
ahhh that’s right…good call Cleric. i’m on it
September 14th, 2007 at 12:02 am
this sucks but i find it funny cuz my friends 360 also died today
and i remember a while back when i was going through this same disaster i asked you if this had ever happened to ypu. it seems like just yesterdaay your 360 was alive.
September 14th, 2007 at 12:17 am
technically it was just yesterday lol
September 14th, 2007 at 12:22 am
Poor Deacon…how are you ever gonna Finish the fight now…
September 14th, 2007 at 12:24 am
Dude, I feel your pain. Mine died two weeks ago and it’s being repaired at the moment. Sorry to hear about it.

Stay strong man!

LMAO. Yup thats Deac
September 14th, 2007 at 12:35 am
Yeah mines died too but I revived it, then it died again lol
Try the “towel trick”, look it up on youtube, it actually works so you can get some gaming in before your coffin comes, that’s what I did, I just boxed the boy up today
September 14th, 2007 at 12:36 am
[...] Poor Deacon from Unscripted360. It seems the Red Rings of Death have come to visit him just as the Halo 3 Frenzy was about to [...]
September 14th, 2007 at 12:43 am
That sucks Deac. My first Xbox 360 died the minute the Halo 3 Beta was out in June. I put in Crackdown, it froze at the main menu where you go to select downloads. So I was like “hmm, whatever”, didnt think much of it. But then when I turned it on again I get the ‘3 Red Lights of Death’. Perfect timing…
September 14th, 2007 at 12:52 am
Dude, that sucks. Welcome to the group.
Just for a last shot, try unplugging it for a couple mins from the wall in case it is just a simple ‘funky state’ and not the hardware failure. Other than that, I hope your turnaround time isn’t that long.
September 14th, 2007 at 1:21 am
Yeah, as Souf mentioned, try the towel trick for a few extra days of gaming. It worked for me.
September 14th, 2007 at 1:28 am
The towel trick does work, I’ve seen it three times in person.
September 14th, 2007 at 1:33 am
let’s hope that you get it back quickly, we were supposed to play co-op:(
September 14th, 2007 at 5:44 am
yeah i know Jokar.
thx guys for the emails and messages haha. i think i’ll be ok. hopefully though my call to arms is successful.
September 14th, 2007 at 5:54 am
Oh man this sucks big time but the video is teh awesomeness lol
September 14th, 2007 at 6:14 am
Good luck… Mine went down a in mid-August and I’m STILL waiting for the empty box to show up to send my 360 in. I’ve had a UPS tracking number for 3 weeks now that doesn’t work and got some Indian lady on the phone when I called to ask what was going on and she told me that it shipped on 9/9/09.
Yes folks, that is most definitely a Sunday. Anyone else think I’m being snowballed here?
September 14th, 2007 at 6:51 am
Come back to me when you’re on your fifth and we’ll talk
Seriously though, I know how much this sucks and wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, at least US folks have that website to track their repair.
September 14th, 2007 at 7:07 am
Mine is ok, but look at Zaam’s … http://tinyurl.com/2y4hx6 lol!
September 14th, 2007 at 8:01 am
ouch ZaaM.
September 14th, 2007 at 8:32 am
yeah as we all know im on Squidbox IV so I know your pain - pretty bad timing though.
September 14th, 2007 at 8:36 am
Bummer…Mine went belly up on me last week and I sent it to the repair shop on Monday. They shipping through Fed Ex Express now which is very fast so your delivery time shoul be pretty quick. You may just get your 360 back under the wire prior to Halo 3.
Good luck brother.
September 14th, 2007 at 8:46 am
Awww damn man…You had a nice streak going too. Hopefully you will be back on track soon!
September 14th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Wow, weird, My friend’s just died last night as well. We both agree though, it had a long life for a launch console.
September 14th, 2007 at 9:27 am
See, it really can happen to anybody (and most likely everybody before we’re done).
That sucks Deac, I am very surprised though MS didn’t just ship you a new Elite overnight to avoid you talking about it on the site.
Have I really seen it all now?!?!? Cleric admits the console has a problem now? He was always right there to deny the problem for MS for the longest time.
September 14th, 2007 at 9:35 am
i put a call to arms to some friends for sure just to explore all avenues. and hey an Elite would be uber.
but i’m not that important contrary to popular opinion.
September 14th, 2007 at 9:54 am
that sucks man im on my 3rd one and its an elite now
i dont think i wil be able to get halo 3
September 14th, 2007 at 9:56 am
Kaaaaaahn!!!!
I wanted to “Finish the fight” with you in some Co-Op as well, man. Here’s hoping you get it back soon…
September 14th, 2007 at 9:57 am
Well mine died 2 weeks ago and i send it to Microsoft. They also told me that they will send me a new and improved Xbox360.
September 14th, 2007 at 10:05 am
[quote comment="54657"]i put a call to arms to some friends for sure just to explore all avenues. and hey an Elite would be uber.

If it would have gotten you to stop talking about it they’d do it immediately. Problem is you might have already shot yourself in the foot by posting about it already.
September 14th, 2007 at 10:05 am
yeah i don’t see why Microsoft won’t just hook you of all people up Deac. it’s not like you’re a regular customer. i mean you’re Deacon lol (i said that in a non-gay way)
September 14th, 2007 at 10:07 am
nah i don’t think so Harp. it’s not like that as if to hush the situation. it happens..i think everyone including MS understands that. no sense in hushing it.
the response is always a better story anyway
September 14th, 2007 at 10:08 am
@Carbon, lol i’m sure you did my friend.
September 14th, 2007 at 10:17 am
poor baby
as much as you do for us and the community though, i’m sure your MS friends won’t let you go too long without it. i’d think it was automatic.
September 14th, 2007 at 10:41 am
It happened to me two nights ago, right in the middle of playing Bioshock. I did the same, sitting there powering on and off, thinking miraculously it was going to correct itself. Totally at a loss as to why. I’ve always given it plenty of space for ventilation, and kept it free of dust.
I’ll send it for repair, but I’m seriously eyeing the Elite. Does a transfer cable come with it?
September 14th, 2007 at 11:05 am
nope you’ll have to send in for the migration kit Bulvai.
September 14th, 2007 at 11:15 am
this is a perfect time to introduce the ‘win a gaming session with Deacon’ contest- open to those of dallas only
they won’t know anything’s up until you tell them to walk outside and lock the door so you can enjoy the 360 once more!
September 14th, 2007 at 11:25 am
Maybe this video will make you feel better!
http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=tVbacxFx9hM
September 14th, 2007 at 11:25 am
Man, that sucks Deacon. I guess it happens to everyone eventually. I haven’t had any problems so far (knock on wood) but I guess my time is coming too.
If it does happen to me at least I have my PS2 to keep me occupied
September 14th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Did your new 360 yet ? Quit lieing I bet it drops today
Best of luck for the Halo3 launch. SuM
September 14th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
Haha, that video was awesome deacon, lets hope that my doesnt die when Halo 3 launches
September 14th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
so glad everyone’s enjoying my 360’s demise lol. j/k
@SuM, i wish dude.
September 14th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Nnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! That really sucks!
September 15th, 2007 at 10:38 am
@DB, I’m certainly not enjoyin’ your 360’s demise. Mine’s [probably] in the same UPS hearst as yours! lol XD
Yes, teh RRoD does suck! =/
September 15th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
yep it’s teh suck. got a little over a month wait. i’ve come to accept that.
September 16th, 2007 at 5:11 am
little over a month???wtf?! What are they on back order with these things? The first 360 I sent in only had like a week and a half turnaround time. After that one came back, I sold it and bought a new Core at Best Buy with a 2 year warranty. That way I wouldnt have to deal with the long waits going through MS if they got teh red lights…just a quick run and exchange at the store.
September 16th, 2007 at 9:39 pm
yeah store warranties are good in cases such as these.
September 25th, 2007 at 8:46 pm

September 26th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
Nice to hear you got your back. So I call to find out about mine (they received it on the 15th on this month) they told me that because I live in Oregon and not in Texas it will take longer to repair.
