FASA Studio Officially Shuts Down
What would the community be without obsessed and eager fans huh? (thanks Carbon Filter) Developers of the Xbox 360 and GFW title, Shadowrun, officially closed its doors today making what many speculated about for months, true. I suppose we can all put to bed any dreams of future content or maps.
In a message left on the official forums for Shadowrun, Mitch Gitelman (former head of FASA Studio) had this to say:
“It is my sad duty to announce that FASA Studio has officially closed its doors. Today was the official last day of employment for those of us who had not moved on to other positions within Microsoft Game Studios.”

Speculation about the future of FASA had been going on even before the game was announced but that speculation was always denied. I suppose the weird happenings with Shadowrun’s achievement listing that Squidpunch messaged me about is less weird now. Maybe FASA Studio will emerge again as EPD Service?
What say you? Would this decision have stopped you from buying Shadowrun had you known there would be no future content support?

I was very sad to see this. Mitch was awesome, and so is Shadowrun.

*wipes tears…
This is a sad day. After thinking back at what they did for the community and the beta, it makes me sad to see this happen. So many good memories…You were all so great! Good luck to all members of the crew.

It’s sad to see such a great developer have to shut down. Shadowrun is such a fun game to play, and it’s pretty cool MLG picked it up at their last event. That EPD stuff really has me thinkin though…

i enjoy Shadowrun as well guys. shame they closed FASA down. i was hoping for more maps to be honest but oh well.

Damn..that does suck. Fasa made some pretty kick ass games. I was hoping to see some Shadowrun maps as well to, but with Halo3 right around the corner I doubt I would have ever played em.

yeah i like giving shadowrun a spin from time to time. There are plenty of games that never release DLC – and there was a time when no games had it – so I dont think it would have impacted a purchase decision, at least for me, but some added content would have been nice without a doubt.
the EPD Service thing is gone from the title and achievement list again, so who knows what that was all about

I’m dissapointed because this game is so much fun to play, but so limited by the number of maps and gametypes available. To know that there won’t be any content packs that we can buy in the future to add to this game is dissapointing, but it wouldn’t have prevented me from buying this game.
What’s most dissapointing though is seeing a game studio who’s games I did enjoy, being shut down.

i agree Gecko. i didn’t think i’d enjoy a game with no campaign mode but i enjoyed Shadowrun and i’ll continue to play it. but it sucks nothing new will come to it.

Shadowrun is a good game, but it has many, many valid criticisms; mostly revolving around the price.

Yeah, it is sad to see FASA close down.
However, it is good that the employees are working in other areas of Microsoft Game Studio.
