Lost Planet Map Pack #3 Free Aug 16

I just got word from Capcom about a PC and Xbox 360 patch coming as well as some great news for the Xbox 360 Lost Planet community.  A new set of DX 10 enhancements for Lost Planet PC will be released as an automatic downloadable patch on August 16th.  These are designed to take greater advantage of DX 10 capabilities by utilizing Geometry Shader to improve overall visual quality through better depth of field effects, improved motion blur and fur shading.

Lost Planet

In conjunction with the PC update and free PC Map Pack #2 on August 16th, the “Lost Technology,” “Ruins,” and “Ice Drop” maps of Map Pack #3 will be made available for free download on Xbox Live Marketplace.  Map Pack #3 was originally released last June and made available for 400 Microsoft Points.  Those of you who haven’t downloaded it can grab it for free next week!

Also, a new patch addressing connectivity for players of the Xbox 360 version will be available in the next few weeks.

This is still my favorite game of the year, just barely beating out The Darkness due to it’s awesome multiplayer and how much time I’ve spent with it. I’m just a game away from reaching Level 50 online, which I played for tens of hours to get to, and then stopped playing right before I got it. I’m planning on having this be the last game I play before Halo 3. Probably kill some time with it on the afternoon on September 24th…this game deserves that honor.

Ever since the demo during E3 06 I’ve wanted to play the game, just never got around to buying it. Free maps just might be enough for me to pick it up again.

Thanks for the heads up, Deac…

I would kill anyone who wrecked my copy, it’s very special to me, I played it during a very memorable time of my life, same with Crackdown.

I remember when I got the demo like one or two days early during E3 06 and was one of the only people with it. I took over 60 pictures of it for people on Xbox.com…it was very special. :)

Still one of my secret favorites. Lost Planet does provide a well-round-off package with an excellent SP and MP mode making you want to play on and on. Especially fun for organized (or unorganized) MP matches D:.

Lost Planet is my favorite X360 game.Of the few 360 games I own, I’ve had the most fun playing LP. Once I get those last Target Marks on Extreme (mission 8-10), I will have my last achievement, that pesky Master Pioneer and be back to multiplayer.
