HDMI Standard For Xbox 360
News is being thrown around the interweb about Microsoft including the HDMI port on all Xbox 360 consoles going forward. Apparently the demand has grown enough for Microsoft to make the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) option standard. I mounted a secret tape recorder in a key position at Microsoft to get an “official” word and it’s true.
The Xbox 360 Pro will be equipped with HDMI going forward. My friends over at X3F have uncovered a Pro console with HDMI. The recent Xbox 360 price drops make the Pro console a steal now in my opinion. I guess we should’ve seen the light when the Halo 3 Pro was announced with an HDMI port.
Xbox 360 consoles will include the HDMI logo to identify whether or not it’s equipped.
What say you?

Honestly, I don’t understand why the HDMI wasn’t on there from launch day. But I am loving my HDMI on the elite, so others will for sure enjoy it.

So now will the only difference between the bare Elite and Premium be the color? I would assume that Cores are not going to have the HDMI, otherwise you could buy a Core and a 120 gig and it would me less than a premium.
Also, I wonder if when you send in your broken 360, if they have to give you a new one then if it comes with a HDMI?
Anyways, I am sure all questions will be answered eventually. Good news overall.

If I could only figure out how to get the HDMI port on my 360 without having to buy a new one!

Well, Interesting thing is that the SKU’s have already changed and three retail managers all differnt chains are saying they where told to not expect any new core system at all. I am very interested when MS will break all this news. HDMI already confirmed I have a feeling my system is about to break down for a repair:)

It’s going to be more than just HDMI, fact is your going to get a white stripped down Elite. The special Halo edition is the Elite with a smaller Harddrive. The insides should be the same as the Elite, that means it will have a reconfiged motherboard and advantages to keep things cooler on the inside. This has to do with retooling, why make something with the older motherboards? That means you can get a Core someday that is a white Elite with out the Harddrive.

So now, if your 360 happens to need repairs….is MS forced to give you a 360 with all the upgrades as these are the new standards for the Xbox 360 starting yesterday and officially when the news is made well…official? LOL I hope so cause if it is….my 360’s breaking down pretty freakin soon.

lol @ Raf. yep that’s the case my friend. but ofcourse all cases of “returns” will be examined ya know.

Problem is your sending back a non-hdmi version and they have a shelf load of everyones broken LEMONS! That’s what they send back, the refurb OPP (Other Peoples Problems). Until they get away from OPP, then your not going to get something new off the shelf. Get rid of the crap and solve the problem. All I know is I have an Elite with extended 3yr and I best get nothing but an Elite back during that time.

On the warranty contract, I remember it saying something along the lines of ” If we are unable to fix your 360, we will send a new one with the latest features.” Some people see the elite as having the latest features since it had the HDMI port and requested it since they got back refurbished consoles. Of course Microsoft said to all these people, we have to talk to our legal team about this and said they will get back to us in a month or 2. Well, they never got back to any of us lol, then this great news comes out. A little later Goku became a Super Sayin 3 and saved the world once again.

I really feel that faulty equipment, being fixed and sent back out is nothing more than faulty equipment still in the mix. Better bet is to send out the updated Core, that means they’ll have a new motherboard/stripped down Elite and hopefully a better experience.

Good news. MS always said that the 360 would be flexible and would allow for changes in market conditions. If there is value in having the HDMI port than they will include it. Makes sense.
Personally, I’m not all that big on HDMI although I have an HDMI compatible HDTV. I don’t see that big of a difference.

there’s not much of a difference at all. personally, i’d just like to make use of the port on my TV ya know.

I use HDMI and I don’t think I notice a difference. When I got my Elite, I had moved and was living in a new place, but now I’m back in my old place, and everything looks perfect, but I never had a chance to do a good comparison, because I hadn’t used my Xbox 360 in a long time when I got my Elite, and I’m too lazy to hook my Elite up via Component right now.

MS blew it on this one. They didn’t forsee the need for HDMI prior to the 360 launch? I am not going to buy a new unit because of the “new standard”, but in the event my second 360 bricks, like the first, then an HDMI port would be pretty sweet to have. My two HDMI ports on my HD-TV are so lonely.

It’s cool but whats the deal with HDMI? Not every one has the money or the use for HD-TV.

you need to upgrade Pimp
