I had another great time at the Major League Gaming event here in Dallas.  I wanted to thank Corie Pierce for taking care of me at the event.  Things are so much easier when you work with great people.  I had a chance to talk with a few of the players, teams and also had a moment with Sundance DiGiovanni, co-founder and chief marketing officer.  There were also a few surprise guests that I didn’t anticipate but should’ve known they’d be in attendance.  The Frag Dolls were there representing and PMS Tart was also on deck.  (she looked great for those of you wanting to know)

One of the teams I interviewed, vVv Vision, ended up in the Gears of War Final against LGD Black.  LGD Black staged an upset and took home the victory as well as the sweet $5,000 prize!  I really have to increase my skills so I can dominate the circuit one day.  Sundance did say he’d work with people like myself with minimal skills so maybe I’ll give him a call…or not.  It would be embarrasing for MLG so I’ll keep doing the host bit.

The best part about the event though would have to be Unscripted 360’s very on Unscripted Girl!  Her name was Jennifer and she came representing U360 with a self-made U360 T-shirt!  If I ever felt humbled and proud to be doing this, it was at that moment.  The shirt had www.unscripted360.com on it from one of those T-shirt transfer kits.  It was excellent!  I gave her a media pass and brought her into the event.  I got her contact information so expect to hear from Jennifer on an upcoming show very soon!

I’m going to try and round things out with the last day of MLG Pro Dallas today.  It’s the last day featuring the finals of Rainbow Six Vegas and Halo 2.  Stay tuned for some U360 video interviews.  I was also interviewed by the MLG team so I’ll try to grab that and link everyone to it so you can check it out.

I just got back from the Major League Gaming (MLG) event here in Dallas. The top gamers and players from all over the country converged on Dallas, TX for the third event of the 2007 season on the Pro Circuit today. Halo 2, Rainbow Six Vegas and Gears of War players were on display. I had a very fun time capturing footage and seeing the players in action. I checked in as media and I got to see a lot of passionate gamers. It really amazed me as I had no clue at how serious professional gaming is.

Major Leage Gaming Dallas 07

I got a chance to see the guys from FASA Studio mixing it up with gamers on a Shadowrun challenge. I also had a chance to speak with Michael Sepso, one of the founders of MLG, who was a very “normal” guy believe it or not. These guys are gamers and it’s obvious seeing them mix it up with the crowd.

Unfortunately, the event is over the entire weekend so I won’t have a live show of U360 TV tomorrow but I will have a normal podcast ready. I’ll be sharing as much media, interviews and photos of MLG Dallas as I can so stay tuned.

Who’s ready for the Public Multiplayer Beta for Call of Duy 4: Modern Warfare?  Infinity Ward plans to unleash the beta this August!  The exact date in August has yet to be determined.  It doesn’t appear to be a long wait though because August just so happens to be next month!

This has been in the works for a while I would imagine if you consider that it will have been only weeks after E3, that they’ll be ready to launch.  CharlieOscarDelta should have some details on how entries will be handled.  One thing is on my mind about this. Will you have to buy a game to enter?  I’m sure you won’t.  (at least I hope not)

I know quite a few of you have been anticipating this demo and now that anticipation can cease.  The Darkness has a demo available in the Xbox Live Marketplace for you to enjoy.  I loved the game.  I think it’s one of the best games on the Xbox 360 currently.  I reviewed it here at Unscripted 360 and gave it a 9.0 making it an Untouchable of the Year candidate!

Download it now or Jackie might send his Darklings after you.

The Darkness

Ok.  I’m sure you remember the NBA 2K7 Reelmaker right?  Well Major Nelson brings word that you can now download the APF 2K8 Reelmaker.  What’s the difference?  One is NBA and the other is APF duh!  Some of you may not catch the witty humor but for those of you who catch it, you’ll understand the disappointment of many.

All-Pro Football 2K8

Same tool, different game…same price.  The same reasons I love the Live Marketplace on Xbox 360 are the same reasons I often hate it.  Is it really necessary to charge for a replay editor regardless of the type of effects?  You make the call.  It’ll cost you 400 Microsoft Points to download and utilize.

I have two (2) redeem codes courtesy of NinjaBee for Band of Bugs on the Xbox Live Arcade.  I’ve been holding onto these for a bit as I wanted to unload them along with a Q&A from NinjaBee on the title but I figured why wait any longer.  Do you want to bug out with Band of Bugs?  Ofcourse you do.

All you have to do is name the titles that NinjaBee has developed for the Xbox Live Arcade and which one has been reviewed on Unscripted 360.

It’s simple, easy and promotes strong bones.  You can send your answers via message on the forums, Xbox Live or email.  (you should know my email address)  I’ll announce the winners on Episode #44 this week!

Major League Gaming (MLG) is the largest organized league and international sanctioning body for the world’s fastest growing competitive sport: professional video gaming and it’s headed to Deacon’s stomping grounds this weekend, July 20-22nd.  In the words of The Rock, “Finally, MLG Has Come Back…to Dallas”.

Major League Gaming

I’ll be headed out to the event at various times to grab some footage of it so I can share with the U360 crowd.  If you’re in my area and you want to tag along, send me a message.  Or if you’re from Dallas and you’ll be participating, let me know.  You can all be a part of the U360 media entourage to help me cover the event for the listeners and readers out there.

Players will be battling across Halo 2, Rainbow Six Vegas and Gears of War from Friday - Sunday.  The top prize is up to $20,000!  Who’s going to take the crown from Dallas?  This is the 3rd event for the 2007 season of MLG.  Players are battling for their place in the National Championships.  It should be a lot of fun and I’m excited about watching players compete.

My friends at the Gamerscoreblog just released a press release that Peter Moore has resigned his position at Microsoft.  He’ll head over to become President of EA’s sports division.  I guess he wants to redeem his E3 Rock Band performance in a major way.

I just wanted to say to Peter that I wish you well.  I didn’t get the pleasure to meet you but you were one of the very few executives that I’ve come across who seemed to have a genuine love for what they were doing.  It’s not always about numbers.  You understood that it was just as much about the fun as it was the business.  I’ll forever remember your presentation tattoos, your Pac-Man promo video as well as your Rock Band performance during E3 2007.

I can only hope that the people in places that matter at Microsoft realize that it’s not always about years of experience in this industry.  I guess now we move on to a new face for the Xbox 360.  Good luck Peter and welcome to the new breed.

The great musical divide is what some are calling this upcoming battle of the bands on Xbox 360.  Guitar Hero III and Rock Band are going to release soon and create an interesting choice.  How will you decide to unleash your inner rockstar?  Will you stick to the proven band or change venues for the new kid on the block?

I wanted to let you know that I’m right there with you and your frustration so I’ve decided to pit the two against each other.  I hope this helps in figuring out which is the best title for you to shred guitar or dance to the beat of a different drum.  I gathered as much information as I could to throw these two titles in the octagon.  After reading this you’ll see my choice for unleashing your innner rockstar.  (or I’m sure you’ll just skip to the end)
