Peter Moore Resigns From Microsoft
My friends at the Gamerscoreblog just released a press release that Peter Moore has resigned his position at Microsoft. He’ll head over to become President of EA’s sports division. I guess he wants to redeem his E3 Rock Band performance in a major way.
I just wanted to say to Peter that I wish you well. I didn’t get the pleasure to meet you but you were one of the very few executives that I’ve come across who seemed to have a genuine love for what they were doing. It’s not always about numbers. You understood that it was just as much about the fun as it was the business. I’ll forever remember your presentation tattoos, your Pac-Man promo video as well as your Rock Band performance during E3 2007.
I can only hope that the people in places that matter at Microsoft realize that it’s not always about years of experience in this industry. I guess now we move on to a new face for the Xbox 360. Good luck Peter and welcome to the new breed.

Is this a case of “when the going gets tough…”?
I welcome the change and hope in improves an already great system we have.

not sure shoe. but it does concern me with the recent strings of things going on with Xbox.

Damn I hate to see him leave, its like you said he kinda fought for the community on issues instead of making excuses all the time.

I’m sick to my stomach right now. What makes it all even worse is who they’re replacing him. What a ****ing nightmare.

G’day, mate.
Well there’s some news. Oh well.
Bye Pete.

Not a big deal, this sort of thing happens a lot in other industries.
It will be interesting to see what kind of dynamics this introduces between EA and Microsoft.

Wow, you know sure I’ve had my problems with him in the past, like his way of making every announcement extremely important, when it’s something like some dumb movie game. Although I liked the guy he’s deffinetly a better representative than Sony or Nintendo’s. In retrospect, I realise maybe this will gain way for someone that will truly just scream Microsoft. Now if this position were to be given to Frankie from bungie or Lorne lanning from Oddworld, we would have a really influential public figure head.
Another thing is that its shocking for someone who loves games and the experience to be working at EA. EA the rushed low budgeted game center of the world. But hey maybe this will turn around the low quality and mediocre development I generally expect from EA.

That’s the only positive thing that could come out of it Surma.

A big loss for MS but I wish him well and hope his replacement will be there for the 360 community

i’m with ya guys. bummer move but more interesting to see what happens next.

Hes working with EA sports divison and he has a history with sports, being a soccer player and he was a leader at reebok. I think another reason he might be leaving is that he now gets to move back in San Francisco where you used to live.
Though I’ll miss him I’m sure he’s going to be around. I wonder who’s going to be the next spokes person for the 360.

Sad to see him go and not sure about the choice of his replacement. I do find it interesting they released both press releases within 1 hour of the other. I doubt for 1 minute this just happened and all the changes where decided this week or even during E3 but lets hope it’s a good move.
Many of us thought the same thing when Peter took over so it may be a good thing just sort of odd in one day.

Robbie Bach

Don Mattrick is replacing him…former EA guy.

I guess we will never see a third tattoo then huh?
July 17th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
I have a feeling this is why he didn’t get a third one…
July 17th, 2007 at 9:40 pm
well guess no more free marketplace content, since thats what EA likes to do.
July 17th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
Looks like we’re going to start paying for game trailers.
July 17th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
i hope there’s no drastic changes to how things have been running.

This is not just a coincedence. Someone’s head had to roll for the 1 Billion dollar mistake. Sad part is it’s probably not Peters Fault. He is basically a PR guy. I doubt he was making the decsions about how the machine was built, etc….
The thing is MS had to have someone take a fall. Chances are MS worked with EA to make sure Peter Landed squarely on his feet in a well paid position. Now MS show the world/stock holders that someone new is in charge… etc.. etc…

How is the 360 overheating Mr. Moore’s fault? He will be sorely missed just like when Mr. Ed Fries left MS and we got stuck with Shane Kim
July 18th, 2007 at 7:52 am
they should hire me. I would tattoo every game on my body if needed.
July 18th, 2007 at 8:27 am
Guess his next tat will ge a huge EA on him somewhere.
Sad to see him leave, but sounds like he’ll be still involved in the biz.
July 18th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Anyone else feel a huge blow to the Xbox brand? Well I do, especially with the ***whipe they got in charge now.
A dude from EA, how sickening.
Let’s hope for the best though.
July 18th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
we’re all hoping for the best Jarhead.
July 19th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
Yep… and how about that Silicon Knights lawsuit against Epic Games eh?
