“Hey, Is Everything Alright?”
So often in the world we forget to ask the simplest of things to those we consider friends and often to our own families. Doing a podcast show and being in somewhat of a position that makes me openly available to many people, I wanted to take some time to ask those of you who follow the site and listen to the show a question. “Hey, is everything alright?”
In light of many tragedies, I thought to myself how a simple question could help someone and quite possibly prevent something tragic from happening. Doing what I do here at Unscripted 360 and being an Xbox MVP browsing the message boards at Xbox.com, I felt a level of responsibility to the community in which I spend quite a bit of time. I figured a break in “news” wouldn’t hurt to simply check on the communty.
Many of you I call friends and I’m sure there are hundreds more who consider me (because of what I do) to be someone they “know” judging by the dozens of messages and emails I get. Some of us game with each other and interact with each other more often than we realize. So I wanted to challenge everyone to take some time to just ask a friend or family member if everything is alright.
So, I’m asking the community “Hey, is everything alright?”. If you don’t want to respond because there are some things on your mind, then email me or send a voicemail (214) 306-9459 to air it out. Or feel free during Saturday’s live broadcast to address this article and let me know if everything is okay with you. I know sometimes an open ear from a complete stranger helps when you can’t turn to those closer to you. I don’t want to read or hear any tragic news involving someone from the community especially if this simple question could have helped.
I challenge every site owner that visits U360, to take some time and ask your respective communities this same question. And I also challenge you guys and girls to take some time to ask your fellow gamers if everything is okay. Ask your friends, family or that person you see everyday but never speak to. I’m not trying to start a crusade but rather take some responsibility with the position I’m in to check on you guys and gals.

@DB, I’m doing good…just trying to start my gaming career some where. But I’m like ant…hangin’ in there. Anyways, I hope we can get rid of all this rain and flooding. I wanna enjoy outside w/ some games of “round-ball”.

Everything is cool here Deacon, except it’s been really hot and humid so I’ve got a reoccurring case of swamp ass. Other than that I can’t complain, just anticipating E3.

Very cool thing taking time to ask that question man because we all know that sometimes its not “All right” and people who shelter that and don’t talk about are the ones who take it to the point of doing something crazy. This is the main reason I love being part of the U360 community man its like a big family in our forums and thats always a great thing….

lol seriously, i appreciate the feedback. community is what i do and the time we all interact with each other makes us a sort of “family” ya know.
i embrace the way that some people see me and take it to heart that i’m looked at in that regard. you guys are what i do here. this community isn’t a just a stat program that i look at. i spend a lot of time interacting with everyone so something like this, is just what i do.
i think everyone who fosters some sort of “community” claim should bring it down a level and just ask how everyone in their community is doing. you never really know how it might affect someone’s life in a positive way.

I’m glad you care about us, Deacon. That’s what community is all about imo. I’m doing ok at the moment while waiting for my 360 to get back. Meanwhile I just got my Zune to play with at the moment

I was doing ok, until I browsed my friends list to send Deacon a message, but alas…I was removed! Blasphemy! lol. J/K. I know your the big man on campus now Deac and I appreciate all the good and hard work you do around here. Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work!

Man, you never cease to amaze me Deac. I have no words Deac. I’m seriously all choked up right now. My respect for you has reached a new level. I nominate you person of the year, for creating and maintaining the best community around and for being a downright cool individual.
Keep on doing what you’re doing man. Kin always has your back.
