Microsoft Points Bundle Changes?
Hello. My name is Deacon and I am an impulse Marketplace buyer. Yes, I admit to being one of those people who purchases things from the Xbox Live Marketplace on impulse. If I see a nice picture pack, I dish out the points to grab them or I grab a quick bundle if more points are needed. More often than not it’s usually the latter as I’m always usually left with an odd # of points that don’t seem to be enough. Are you an I.M.B.? If so, then you’ll probably agree that something must be done with the current increments of points you’re allowed to purchase.

Current Bundles:
500
1000
2000
5000
Proposed Additions for I.M.B.’s:
20
50
100
200
There are times when I only need or want just enough points to finish a picture pack purchase but instead I have to dish out a quick $6.25 for a 500 Microsoft Points bundle. Will I use the extra points? Eventually, sure. But at that moment I just didn’t need that many or want that many. (sure as heck would’ve rather spent for what I needed)
Being an I.M.B., I know I set myself up for the same situation over and over but perhaps having more bundle choices could save me from this behavior. Ok, maybe not save me from the behavior but maybe it would save me some money in the long run. Why not have an option for 100 Microsoft Points? 50 Microsoft Points? A sale is still being made isn’t it?
I’ve heard a lot of comments about this issue. I’m sure the day will never come that allows users to simply input whatever amount they want, so why not throw a bone and add these choices?

They make a larger profit on those unused points. There really isn’t any incentive for them to change it, unless people complain incessantly

so let’s begin Raymond!
i know they won’t because of the $. but still…it sucks at times.

I’m an impulse buyer as well every wednesday. I buy the 4000 points card for movies and go back to the store about three weeks.

I personally think they should have a 400 and a 800 point bundle…since 97% of the arcade games that have came out have been at 400 or 800 points…..

I agree there have been a million times I needed just 25 or 30 points and wished I could get them. Because you by the 500 and use what you need out of it on the first buy then your stuck again with needing another small amount LOL.

Oh, also, those useless points just eat at your soul until you break down and buy more to spend those. But then you have more useless points. It’s an endless cycle, and it really helps business I bet

Raymond, you have it right. That’s the way they make it for a reason, and they won’t change it anytime soon.
.
That doesn’t change the fact that this is an awesome idea! Good suggestions, Deac!

When a company allows you to use a credit card, like a grocery store for example, if you spend less than like $3 or $4 dollars, the store actually loses money, cause they have to pay a fee and such to be able to accept credit cards. That is why the minimum you can spend on Marketplace is $5, cause it costs MS a couple bucks every time you do a credit card transaction with them.

yep i think we all know it’s a $ thing. but still…make more choices dammit! lol

The I.M.B. is already going to buy stuff on Marketplace regardless of bundles available. If MS believed that smaller bundles would cause those staunch cheap skates who don’t make any purchases on Marketplace or the “once in a blue moon” purchasers to buy something more often than I can see how smaller bundles would be offered.

I was just thinking yesterday that I was wanting an option to by 800 or 400 points since most of the things I guy are XBLA games.

It kinda like when you hot dogs from a shop. The buns come in packs of six or twelve and the hot dogs come in pack of four or eight.

lol i HATE that about hot dogs and buns man.
