Well, congrats to the winner, what do they get btw?
All I am going to say about the selection is they picked one fortunate family who probably did not need another xbox 360, but then again all the other contestants already had a 360 also. This was no father of the year nomination, for all we know some of these dads could beat their wives. Now as an xbox gamer, I think this Bob guy deserves some recognition for using gaming to enforce good academic achievement. I know many teachers would wish more dads like Bob were around. There are many fathers in public schools from the U.S. who usually don't even speak to their kids, let alone invite their kids' friends over and game with them.
So yeah his kid is very fortunate, but why is that his fault? Yeah we're all envious, but what are you going to do? As an educator, I'm just glad to hear that Bob only lets children who get good grades play in lan parties and that he is responsible enough to drive them home after a night of gaming. Props to Bob for being a good dad and having the income to go all out on xbox360. If I had the money I'd do the same for my future son.
I don't think anyone is mad at the kid or his father. If I had enough disposable income I'd definitely do something like that for my child in the future. It's more about the selection process in general. I just feel that whoever decided on the winner should've used other criteria because they definitely didn't need the freebies.

I hate rich people, I hate poor people too. We should be socialist. Cuba has better healthcare than the U.S.A.

Rich people are greedy, usualy pigs too!

What a bunch of crap. Some kid with a rich dad gets a bunch of free stuff because he had enough money to build a theater room for his son and friends? I think a lot of fathers would do that if they could financially afford to. I dunno, I would've rather this gone to someone who truly deserved it.

Ya. I'm pretty bummed by this winner as well. "My dad bought 6 HDTVs for 360 LANs", "I convinced my friends not to buy [insert competing console here] and buy 360s instead", "I'm sending in a picture of me and my dad wearing xbox t-shirts too, because that means he's the best dad ever!"

Guess I know now what stuff I should have included in my essay. My nominee was only a great supporter of the online community, instills ethical and moral values into his sons on a regular basis, uses xbox and gaming to bond with his children and to teach them life lessons ("you can do anything you set your mind to", etc), has donated both time and resources to help better the xbox community and its members. Damn, I forgot to tell him to be rich and buy 6 HDTVs and a 12 ft. projector first because that's obviously what being a great dad is about for MS.

What a sham.
