They will not take your cc informaton off their records like they claim to. They refer you to this site then he gives you a bad phone number. It’s to a porn site, which was very offensive. Then when I got the right number the lady tells me she doesn’t know What I’m talking about. I said what the screen said about me getting my cc information back and she had no idea waht I was talking about. I’m sure I’m not the only one to ask for this info. This is OBVIOUSLY a SCAM!!! Beware!!! Unfortunatley no one finds out till they get to this site. Then it’s too late. I bought my XBox used. But she said she didn’t know what I was talking about before I told her that. This is just wrong to do to unsuspecting people. I wish I could find a way to get them to take that off the screen when you enter your cc number, because either it’s a lie or their’re not telling their people the policy… Either way they’re wrong.

I re-enabled Gold on my account and it reactivated my auto-renew status. I tried to change it again on the site, and they no longer have an option for that. After calling customer support, they decided to give me three more months of Gold for a cheap price, and then, they didn’t bill me for it, so I essentially got 3 extra months for free, as long as I call customer support again later and cancel before the auto-renew.

Xbox/Windows Live is moronic. I like Steam and PS3 and even GOG (Good Old Games) a lot more.

OK I got it done myself.
1. Call the customer service make them do it. They will state you have to cancel your account before the credit card information is removed. If you cancel in the first 30 days they will still hold your information because they will refund the purchase back to your account. Of course you are angry because they are holding your credit card information and have the auto billing option on the site on the xbox360live site.
2. Go to this site http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/ and act like you are going to buy something after you sign in. When it asks you to checkout, it will bring you to your credit card information screen. Luckily, there is a delete option that actually works, so you can delete your credit card information. (unlike on xbox live billing which does not work) If ever in my life I get Live again or anything with Microsoft. I will buy the store gamer card. This is too much of a hassle.

I had the same experience as Brian, finally just canceled the credit card. M$ could take a lesson from Apple, I have no problem controlling purchases from iTunes on my son’s iPod. They need parental purchase controls, there are none, so beware once you link xbox account to a credit card. Here is what it says on their support site:

To remove a credit card associated with an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership

You cannot remove a credit card that is associated with an active Xbox LIVE Gold membership. You will see the following error:
This payment option cannot be removed at this time. Please contact Xbox LIVE Customer Support.
Do one of the following:
Switch your payment option on your Xbox LIVE Gold account. After you add or edit a payment option, the one being replaced is removed.
Cancel your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership. To do this, contact Xbox Support.
Follow the instructions in Remove an existing payment option.
