Xbox Live Billing – Removing Credit Card Details

This has been a hot topic throughout the community for quite some time.  After the latest system update/maintenance, word spread that you could now have your credit card information removed from your Account Billing with Xbox.  I mentioned to a few people that I would look into it and find out any other news about it.  I did and will have the actual call on the next show but I wanted to share the details that I was told.  I spoke with Xbox Support (1-800-446-9269) last night and had a very fun conversation that I hope you’ll enjoy on the next show.  I told Xbox Support I’d help spread the word so here it is.

Details of the call…

Removing Credit Card from Xbox Dashboard

-changes went into effect March 16 allowing users to request their CC details be removed
-a call must be placed to Xbox Support requesting removal
-upon request, the issue will be escalated to the proper billing team to expedite removal
-process takes between 5-10 days normally
-any attempts prior to March 16 may not be valid so please call again with a new request

    STILL A LIE!!!
The remove button ONLY works if you DIDN’T use your CC to buy the GOLD membership.

I’m an older gamer and have 4 kids ranging from 14 to 26 and the older one’s have moved out. I told them ALL that I’d pay to keep their XBL Gold Memberships active forever because it lets us stay in touch with each other now that the older ones moved out. I set up all their accounts with one CC auto-renewing their Gold Memberships.

However, one of them decides to go crazy and buy a bunch of Arcade games without asking first (and that’s not part of our deal), so stupid me simply wants to remove the card info from XBL… NOT HAPPENING!!!

Apparently, since I bought the Gold Membership with the CC, it’s ATTACHED to that purchase and CAN’T be deleted even with the USLESS “Remove” button!!! Even after I went into the account and turned OFF the auto-renew option, it STILL won’t let me remove the card. The most screwed up thing about this is the membership is PAID IN FULL and after turning off the auto-renew option, it should NOT be tied to the CC any more. XBL Customer Service, live from India, is a friggin’ joke. Someone on here said after turning off the auto-renew option, you have to wait till the current membership expires, but for me, that’s 9 months away.

MY SOLUTION: Delete XBL from the equation by doing 2 things…
    1. Went to MY Credit Card website, clicked “Lost Card” and had a new card & new number sent to me within a few days. RENEW THAT XBL!!!
    2. Found the Maximus Cards website (www.maximuscards.com) so now whenever I want to renew the kids’ accounts or give them points, I don’t have to go to the store and waste time. I can SAFELY use my Credit Card to buy renewals or points from Maximus Cards, they email me the Redeem Code within about 2 minutes and just forward copy the code onto an email or XBL message to the kids to use. There’s about a 10 minute delay from the time I clicked “order” at Maximus Cards to the time XBL accepted the code, but considering I didn’t leave my living room and can do it 24/7, I can live with 10 minutes.

A Class Action Suit sounds like a GREAT idea!!!

    1. I CANT BECAUSE I HAVE GOT GOLD so i guess i got screwed.

    2. does microsoft really screw with your card?? because… i know it is your CC on the internet and such… but does anyone have a case here they got screwed over?

    3. cant you just sue their asses?

it’s not because you have Gold..it’s probably because you’re still on Auto-renew…you need to remove yourself from auto-renew.

I purchased Live Gold at the special price of $1 and they charged me eight times! I used my PayPal debit card, so that might be part of the problem, but these issues shouldn’t exist. If it works with one MasterCard, it should work with them all.

I’ve spent the past 2 days trying to resolve the extra charges. I finally got a phone number through e-mail, but I have to wait until during the day, tomorrow, to call.

My big problem is that I’m scared to do anything else. I purchased Gold membership to get on Halo Waypoint and maybe play a few games online, and trust me, I will, if this overcharge is fixed. However, I also wanted to purchase some MP and buy a few small downloads. If they’re going to charge me several times, I’m not buying.

Same here, I used my Debit card on my account recently, after trouble with my bank, I cancelled my account with them. My card info is still attached to my xbl account even thought it doesn’t exist. Now they’ve suspended my account from gold and will not (i repeat) will not let me delete it. I am actually required to have electronic transfer devices to be a pwnstar on the Internet? Almost as unreal as censoring techniques on runescape…suspended cuz I can’t say the word “come”.
