New Halo 2 Maps Media
As if people needed any more reason to put more hours into Halo 2, Bungie and Certain Affinity get prepped to bring 2 new maps! Both maps are remakes of a couple found in the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Hang ‘Em High, arguably the most popular multiplayer map for the original title, has been reimagined for Halo 2 as Tombstone, with all-new graphics, features and a few hidden surprises. Now fans will enjoy the dangerous catwalks and trenches that made this the most requested Halo multiplayer map ever, with a modernized Halo 2 flavor.
The second map, Desolation, is a symmetrical, Deathmatch-oriented map and a beautiful remake of the original Derelict. With new graphics and effects and a massive gameplay overhaul, the old favorite is now faster-paced and more balanced than ever, perfect for intense Halo 2 combat. Both of the maps will be available through the Halo 2 in-game content downloader for both Xbox and Xbox 360.

When: April 17
How much: $4 for the pair or around 320 Microsoft Points
Could this be more evidence of multiplayphobia? If you’ve read my letter to Bungie, then you’ll know what that means.

I was hoping I could actually use my left over MS pts. I got from my nice sister for my birthday but they are making this a credit card only deal… I was kinda disappointed to say the least. But ehh I guess 4 bucks isn’t much for maps that I’ll have hours of fun with. Just read your letter too and I agree completely. That’s one of the many reasons I moved to only rpgs for my story needs haha. Glad you still got the site running I haven’t been tuning in nearly as much as the end of last year. Blame WoW. lol.

I, for one, am very disapointed to hear that my MS points will not buy this for me. I understand that they want to allow the Xbox users who are still on live to be able to buy this. However, I don’t understand why both systems can’t be in play since we paid money for points.

Actually I am glad that Bungie was so concerned about our classic console friends. Many H2 players I know actually have a 360 and an original XBOX and this allows them the opportunity to continue to use both in multiplayer games with the new maps.
Oh and as for the WoW comment, MMORPGs are definitely needed on the XBOX 360. I have been pulled away from the 360 goodness recently by the beta of Lord of the Rings Online. There’s only a few days left and I haven’t made up my mind as to whether I want to actually buy the game and subscribe to it. I just hope that when Two Worlds comes out it has the ability to grab my attention and hold it like LoTR has… but that is a discussion for another post
Oh and BTW, we haven’t gotten all the details ironed out for the site-vs.-site exhibition gaming event yet. The GhostRider’s Zone Staff is meeting this Wednesday evening to work out some of the details. We haven’t dropped the idea and hope that Deacon and the Unscripted360ites are still up for playing. Gamertag Radio and a few other sites have also expressed interest.

GhostriderTGAC, Are you considering the $200 lifetime option? I played it during the stress test and thought it to be quite good even if only for its story line. To me its just like WoW only LOTR. I wasn’t able to install it in Vista for somereason and just didn’t care enough to really try. Instead of that I’ve been pulled farther in with the Shadowrun Beta.

[...] of the Week right? Yes after all this time, Halo 2 still resides in many of our consoles. The new maps were released today and are already causing a frenzy for both Xbox and Xbox 360 owners. I imagine this will add [...]
