Wait, Deacons a fanboy?? wow I must be missing something, LOL, sorry never heard him be bias or seen any immature ways that you speak of Meebo.. I believe if I am not mistaken Deac owns a PSP, it may not be a PS3 but it still a sony product!

I agree w/ Squid it goes back to people feeling that "the grass is greener" but it may not always be.

I work in customer service so I hear this alot and I think people say it mainly out of frustration and wouldn't make the switch. Some use it as a scare tactic by saying they will make the switch and take their business elsewhere so the can try and get something else out of the company to make them stay so that they won't lose business and some really do want to switch.

I am very happy with my 360 and don't really see the need to switch. If it breaks I will have it fixed or if I really need to buy another one (hopefully not!)

I think both consoles have their merit; I think "the switch" is common not only with consoles, but with just about anything. Look at Macs and PCs...someone has enough bad experiences with a PC (even though it might be operator error, poor quality, etc) they'll search for an alternative, like a Mac. Cars are the same...own enough crappy Brand-X cars, and you'll switch to Brand-Y, even if Brand-Y doesn't have leather seats and you love leather seats.

The point is the consumers are fickle; console manufacturers know this, that's why there are exclusive titles for each. No one console is better than the other, and I don't honestly think either one is more prone to problems than the other.

I think that people are wanting to switch because they feel slighted. The sad thing about all of this is that MS doesn't seem to care about their customers. Bad Customer Service, defective consoles, gimped HD capabilities, the list goes on and on. Sure it's all about the games, but there comes a point where that's not even enough. PS3 is not going away anytime soon, but if the Xbox community doesn't get assured that they are being thought of in the long run, then they have every right to make that switch. I was (actually still am) considering switching over to the dark side, mainly because PS3 just has more bang for the buck than X360 does. Not so with the 360 when you have over 50 percent of the owners upset over having defective consoles.

Also when you spend $400+ on a system you expect it to work properly. From what I've read people have different experiences, some good and some bad. The bad experiences are what drives people to switch systems just like with anything we use in our everyday lives. If society feels they're not getting their money's worth they are going to make a change.

Well my first 360 died about 3 months in.. BUT it was a preowned.. I took that risk and haven't complained about it (at least I was smart enough to get the EB warranty). Was able to swap it in less than 10 hours.

But about the whole "Switch", I think its more out of frustration and impatience (and sometimes a verbal way of giving a company the middle finger). I'll confess, after I found out the hard way the issue of the DRM's with the downloadable content and replaced systems.. I was a bit.. disturbed. However I know in time that things will be fixxed.

When a company wants to innovate the market and challange the norm, your bound to make mistakes, mis-steps, and have a load of growing pains that could even make a colonoscopy feel pleasant. Just these days, people just don't want to wait.

my first xbox just got the red lights of doom, though I did nothing to my knowledge to cause it - it had plenty of room to breath, i even have it play laying down not standing up since I had previously scratched a game when powering it off (the drive is known to scratch games when the console is moved even a little while on and standing up). So I called and got a warantee replacement.

About 2 weeks later when i got the replacement, as soon as I turned it on I noticed some strange graphical glitches on some games. I apparently deleted the images I took of it, but best way to describe it was when playing saints row if i was driving a car, it looked perfect, as soon as I got out and walked - there were spears of polygons shooting all over the character I was controlling and all people walking on screen - it was really weird.

I also had to have a pretty lengthy discussion about microsoft sending me a box to return it in - because they had just changed the policy in which they wouldnt pay for shipping to them anymore. After a few times of explaining that it was ludicrous for me to pay to send them back the broken xbox I just recieved that day in replacement of the broken one i sent in for repair just 2 weeks ago.

I could discuss this whole "switching" business in great detail...but I won't, I don't care enough to expend the energy. Know this though, the practice is not unlike other products.

Being the foremost expert on Xbox fanboys I can assure you all Deacon would easily fail the certification process on the basis of consistancy alone.

Is Deacon bias? Yes, he is an Xbox MVP after all. Does that imply a harmful bias...no.

Is Deacon a font of MS rethoric? No, if you would like to see examples of real rethorical Xbox 360 sites...message me.

At worst Deacon is an EVANGELIST. That is to say he is a person that seeks to convert others through the demonstration of his beliefs in a non-forceful way.
