Xbox Live Extras
Bullet Witch supports Xbox Live leaderboards. Don’t ask me why but it does. If you want to compare your rankings with friends and others, then you can. There is a scoreboard for each stage as well as overall score. You can also change costumes via downloadable content on the Xbox Live Marketplace whenever they become available.

Conclusion
Bullet Witch had everything working in its favor. It had a hot, central character. It had a good story behind it. It had a very cool weapon and upgrade system. It had magic spells and a theme that screamed for a frightening experience. It had all of this. It had incredible potential but it just wasn’t given enough time I believe. I could have been playing the sleeper hit of the year. I hope that beyond the sales or media, that this game gets a sequel. And with the sequel, I hope that Cavia takes its time to deliver on what was a very promising title. I think gamers deserve a do-over in this game. It was, I thought, a decent title but it missed in many areas. That’s something more time could’ve perhaps corrected.
Why wasn’t she the Geist killing, Rose Spear casting, Gunrod swinging witch of my dreams? She sure had the potential to be but it just came up a tad short on delivery. With all this said, I do recommend you try the game and play it for a little bit and look beyond what’s there to see the potential it had. I played through it and Bullet Witch ended up being some good fun afterall.

Nice review Deacon!!
I have fun playing this game but I am currently stuck at stage 5..
Stupid snipers…
If there is a sequel hopefully there will be multiplayer, I think it would be alot of fun if it did…especially if you got to choose between playing alicia, the zombies, etc… or even co-op play would be fun, having two tornado spells cast at the same time, imagine the chaos!!

thanks Twy. the game had a butt load of potential…just imagine this game with the visual polish of Gears of War and the gameplay of a Ninja Gaiden or something…Untouchable of the Year material if it had been!
it could’ve been great.

Great review. Informative and well written.
I think I’ll skip Bullet Witch for the time being. If I really wanted to spend money on something not so great but had potential I’d get a PS3 *chuckles*

I felt the same way about it and wanted to try it out myself. There’s much more to the magic casting effect later when you get meteor strike and tornado. You can take buildings down. It is pretty cool how the buildings are rocked and collapsed and helicopters and enemies are thrown around from tornado magic. The fight on the plane level was pretty nerve wrecking too. It was like that scene in Twilight Zone, but you go out on top of the plane to take down a demon. And the ending battle with the demon was tough, but rewarding for what happens when you defeat it. I agree that it had potential, but there were some terrible sore spots. I remember running around 1/2 hour in a vast open space with no music and not an enemy to be found. It doesn’t feel finished. And the blacks seemed too dark in some levels. Play Magazine was the only review that I had seen that was positive, ranking it a 8.5 out of 10. They must have been somewhat biased from their beautiful graphic spreads of the game. I could only recommend it to the most hardcore of fans of games like Devil May Cry, Castlevania, Resident Evil, and Parasite Eve.

I am a hardcore fan of those game, and I don’t like Bullet Witch. Bullet Witch doesn’t even come close to those games in terms of quality. Like Deacon says, it had some potential, but fell flat on it’s face. After playing it at my friends house he offered to lend it to me and I told him no thanks. Maybe one day when I’m losing my mind from boredom and I have absolutely nothing else to play, then I’ll take him up on his offer

Our team copy is now circulating the group but it hasn’t been my turn to try it yet. GoddfreyTGAC who wrote the review was just so put off by the problems that he couldn’t force himself to get very far into the game. RTEGOnline has it right now and he has a different overall style of play. We’ll see what he has to say. I do appreciate your review Deacon and because of it I may just spend some time playing this title when it is my turn.

thanks for the comments guys. it’s a title that you definitely have to play through in order to get passed what you might have heard. at least into the 3rd chapter when you have a few magic castings and extra powers to enjoy Alicia.
the potential this game had was crazy though….with a bit more time in the development process, i think it would’ve been much better.

Yeah, no doubt those series of games are much better than Bullet Witch, but I don’t think you should turn your nose up on it without giving it a try– if you were into those games. At least rent it. If you like elements of horror, gunplay, mysticism and campiness, Bullet Witch does hit those spots.

Nice review, you were right about its wasted potential.
I really had fun with this game, but through the entire experience I was frustrated because it could’ve been so much better. High hopes for the sequel though.
