All penny pinchers rejoice! Microsoft is adding more titles to its string of Platinum Hits for the Xbox 360.
“Platinum Hits not only lets gamers enjoy a broad portfolio of titles at an amazing price,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “It also ensures that existing and new gamers alike can get the most from their Xbox 360 by owning a great library of blockbuster hits. So if you missed playing a game the first time around, now there is a great reason to pick it up.”
The new price of $29.99 will go into effect on March 16 for the following titles in North America:
- Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
- Burnout Revenge
- Call of Duty 2
- Dead or Alive 4
- Fight Night Round 3
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
- Top Spin 2
- Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis
There were other Platinum Hit titles announced for Japan and new pricing strategies that you can read all about in the press release here. I’ve always wondered about the pricing of these Platinum Hits being that you can find these games for less than $30 already in many places.

They should’ve added Oblivion to that list too.

I’m glad some of EA’s “sleeper titles” have finally hit the list. I look forward to picking up Dead or Alive 4 and LOTR, which isn’t mentioned, but pretty cheap where I pick up my games.

Agreed. I think the hits whould be priced at about 20 bucks. I know people will argue that ” it costs more to make them” but I figure they have made up that difference with the 10 extra it sold for when the game first released.
There is a whole bunch of games I would pick up once they hit the $20 new price point.

Ya for sure Mason Parrish. I wont spend $30 on those games because at my Gamestop you can get most of those used for cheaper. The only game in that list that is more expensive used at gamestop was Battlefield 2 last I checked. Granted for $30 you are getting a brand new game but I would still rather save that 5 or so bucks. It adds up along the way and that will be one more game I can get eventually. Or one more McChicken!!! lol just kidding about that part.
