Achievement Reward Program Announced!
And so it begins. You all remember the partially torn document that lead to the media frenzy a few days ago right? Well you all can let out a sigh of relief and the media outlets who linked to the story can now officially smile.
Xbox Live Members Earn Rewards for Achievements was just announced to the media! GameInformer has a spread on the pilot program detailing a bit of its structure. The program is starting in the US only for now and will expand depending on response so for all you fans in other regions, be sure to hit up your fellow US gamers to urge support. Old Spice is the first sponsor up to partner with Microsoft on this program.
Here are a few additional details about the program’s structure:
Reward Package Qualifications
Level 1 (Gamers with an annual gamerscore between 0-4,999 at time of entry): Game Picture, Dashboard theme, Contra for Xbox LIVE Arcade
Level 2 (5,000-9,999 annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 100 Microsoft Points and a contest T-shirt
Level 3 (10,000+ annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 200 Microsoft Points, contest T-shirt and Fusion Frenzy 2
To register for this program, gamers need to visit www.xbox.com/rewards on Feb. 12! What say you?

Sweet!
PS. Team Xbox had this on their page about this subject:
The challenge: Increase your gamerscore by 1,500 between February 12 and April 12, 2007.

So I assume that you have to first increase your gamerscore before you can get those rewards, right?

yep that’s about right.

YAY! Another thing Microsoft decided to screw the Europeans out of even though we pay more for Live and the console! I love it!

This is awesome. Hopefully that rewards site isn’t attacked like all of the other times they do this and everyone gets shut out.

I wonder how many spots there will be to register also, like 50,000 – 75,000?

the way I read it was that you had to get at least 1,500 points before april 12th and you would be able to get a bonus – they say that they would raise you to the next level if you were level 1 or 2. So I assume that this means that if you got 5,000 points (the min for level 2) before April 12 you would automatically be raised to the level 3 ranking. But maybe I read it wrong.

Congrats on the confirmation there Deac, you called that one.
However, I must say that this US only stuff is BS. I could easily get 10,000 points in a year, winning me 100 dollars worth of stuff. Unfortunately not even Canada is included in this offer. Im an hour out of the US and I dont get crap.
Seriously, give SOMETHING to Canada.

i know how it sucks with all this region separation but that’s just how it is and has to be sometimes..by no fault of MS but rather laws and such. if the program does well, you’ll see it.
February 6th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
When MS are so determined to try to bring everyone together on x-box live, and in the future x-box live anywhere, they bring out a new scheme that we all want and then announce it’s U.S. only for now, really sucks ass big time ! The UK and Europe are always left out, and as Big Isy said we pay more in every possible way.Come on Bill sort it out. (Annoyed UK Gamer) !!!!!!!!!!!

Looks pretty cool but I definately see a problem, What about games like King Kong and the 2006 sports games? I haven’t played it but those are easy points that I could get in several hours. MS needs to find a solution to this.

Hopefully we’ll see this in Canada soon enough. Other than that, it sounds like a pretty cool, rewarding program.

It will be great to get things for achievements, but I have to kind of agree with gravedigger abit. There are some easy ways out there to rack up some points, but I am one not turning down some free stuff. I guess you can only go so far doing it that way. I am sure they will have some set of rules on how you have to earn your points.
February 7th, 2007 at 3:07 am
1,500 points? Easy.
But I have a question, when I Increase my gamerscore, will I automatically advance to level 3 since I have more than 10,000 gamerscore points?
February 7th, 2007 at 9:04 am
Groovy! I wonder in the future if they will add Level 4, 5, etc. 1,500 pts should be easy. Heh…heh…heh.
February 7th, 2007 at 2:44 pm
When it says annual gamerscore does that mean amount of points we got in a year or got when we got the console? I only have about 4500 that I got within a year so I’d need to boost my score quickly so I can get upgraded to level 2.
Another question:
Level 2
The popular Xbox Live Arcade game Contra (rated: E10+) from Konami
Exclusive Old Spice Level 2 Xbox Rewards gamer picture
100 Microsoft Points
An experience upgrade to Xbox Rewards Level 3
Does that mean I am level 3 then? I had a few readers e-mail me confused.
February 7th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
assuming you complete what’s required for Level 2, then you’d be bumped to Level 3. details are sketchy. i’ll try to find out more.
February 7th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
I’m trying to also. The details will become known when the program ends but it’d be nice to know them before the program begins.
