Achievements Get Guidelines
We’ve all wondered just what was really the rules when it came down to Achievements in games haven’t we? Condemned: Criminal Origins perhaps started the guessing game with having less than 1000 points possible and every game since has only added to the confusion when trying to figure out how many of if there could be more Achievements worth more points added to games.

So much of this prompted the crew at Gamescoreblog to issue some rules to publishers/developers so that the end user (us) could feel safe in knowing what we’d get with each game.
Achievement Rules:
1. All regular disc-based games MUST have 1,000 Gamerscore in the base game. This means that any consumer who buys a retail game will have the opportunity to unlock the full 1,000 Gamerscore without having to pay for any add-on content. Note that a publisher may decide to deliver a portion of this Gamerscore via add-on content, but the add-on content will always be free to the consumer.
2. Game publishers will have the option to deliver another 250 incremental Gamerscore on top of the 1,000 via add-on content from Marketplace. This add-on content could be either free or paid. So if you complete a game and earn the full 1,000 GS, you could by getting new add-on content earn up to a total of 1,250 points from a game.
3. Xbox Live Arcade games will operate in similar fashion, but given the size of these titles they will allow you to earn up to 200 Gamerscore from every game and up to another 50 points from add-on content.
Go forth and spread thy rules upon the world!

Great Info I bet this will make the achievement guzzlers happy as can be!!
This will probably cause gamers to think a bit more about buying that add-on content since it will come with achievement instead of passing it up because they really weren’t into the game that much.

thats what it said in the article, but it also said that Crackdown would be the first retail game to follow these rules, and that the additional 100 points would be included in a free download pack.

Crap! the rules above are idiotic i don’t buy games to up my gamerscore , however i am more likely to buy games that are for the 360 because of the scoring system but when it comes down to it it i don’t give a flying f*&k about the score i traded in just as fast or throw them on eBay in the same amount of time i have in the past. the rules above are stupid. if you buying a game so you gamer score will get bigger then your most likely one of the people that would consider a penal implant or breast enlargement , go to some therapy and talk to a shrink to feel better about your self.
