Xbox 360 Beats PS3 and Wii
The NPD Group released its holiday sales numbers yesterday and the Xbox 360 outsold both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii combined during the holiday season. In the month of December alone, the Xbox 360 outpaced them both selling 1.1 million units while the Wii sold 604,200 and the PS3 tuned in with 490,700. This marks a 51% market share for the 360 in December.
Also, the NPD has the top five (5) titles in the month of December with Gears of War at numero uno.
1. Gears of War – Xbox 360 (Microsoft)
2. Guitar Hero 2 Bundle- PS2 (Activision)
3. Madden NFL 07 – PS2 (Electronic Arts)
4. Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess – GCN (Nintendo)
5. Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess – Wii (Nintendo)
Overall it was a good holiday season across the board for the Xbox 360. I can see those bonuses rolling in right about now for the Xbox team.

The system in stock is always the one that sells. Look at PSP and PS2 last year (heck look at it for all but two months of 2006).
What bonuses? The Xbox division is hundreds of millions of dollars in the red and has never at any point come close to turning a profit. That fact along with Zune’s slaughter in sales and product reviews is not escaping the eye of Wall Street and institutional investors.
Any bonuses would be based on created goals other than profitability. In companies other than MS that would not be cause for reward.

Oops, forgot about the not more than one link per post rule.
Correct what I said, Xbox is BILLIONS in the red.
For the haters:

Now does that sound like an operation that should be rewarding it’s people with bonuses? Maybe in the Ken Lay school of management.

Here’s my other link proving how widely acknowledged Zune is as a failed product.

Sir Harper is having a bad day
As for those numbers, good stuff. But both sony and nintendo have 2 games each in the top 5 so…………..lol.
Still, considering MS is still thought to be the underdog in the industry by many thats no mean feat.

eh still Sirharper even though there in the red fact remains that Xbox 360 is selling well, and theres hope for Zune(even if it doesnt seem so now I think it can get out there after a few years). Who Knows maybe the Xbox divsion will finally turn a profit because I hear there making profit on Xbox 360s sold now.

From Reuters today….
Sony last week said it shipped 1 million PS3s to North America by the end of 2006, hitting its target by diverting some units from Japan. The high-end version of the console retails for $600 in the United States.
The Japanese company, which saw its PlayStation 2 dominate the last console cycle, said on Tuesday it had shipped 1 million PS3s to Japan and that global shipments reached 2 million in about two months after the launch.
Sony spokesman Dave Karraker said the company is airlifting more than 100,000 systems into the United States every week, which is why units can be found at retail.
“It isn’t because demand has weakened, it is because we have kept the supply pipeline moving,” Karraker said.
By comparison, shortages of Microsoft Corp.’s (Nasdaq:MSFT – news) Xbox 360, released in mid-November 2005, lasted well into early 2006.
— That pretty much settles that debate fanbois.
