Recently released Xbox 360 exclusive, Blue Dragon, has done the impossible it seems in Japan. According to the latest Media Crate Japanese chart, the Mistwalker RPG has managed a #4 showing in the top selling titles in Japan for the week of December 4 - 10. It’s sold 80,000 copies in the country already giving it the #2 all-time Xbox 360 sales record behind Dead or Alive. Sales of the bundle have reportedly been sold within minutes. It’s clearly a title that the crowd in Japan are eager to play.
If the Xbox 360 can manage more games like Blue Dragon, may we see a smile on Peter Moore’s face afterall at next year’s E3 when he addresses the state of the 360 in Japan?

I’m not one to really take sides for a console, but it is cool that the 360 is getting a boost in Japan.

To be fair, there are more 360 consoles than Wiis and as far as I can tell, Zelda has never been a runaway success like here in the UK or US. Its done well, but not overly great.

still any success is good success considering the struggles MS has had in Japan.

True, but comparing it to Zelda is pointless. The Blue Dragon and 360 hardware numbers themselves are what is important.

it’s only pointless if you think it is. any success is good success no matter what the comparison is. Blue Dragon sold very well. it sold very well when compared to Zelda in that same period. don’t read too much into it as if the game is better than Zelda etc…it’s just stating in one particular week, the 360 and Blue Dragon did well and just so happened to outsell Zelda….and if you look at history, that’s a good thing.

Good news, but this article has a bunch of spin to it.
While it is a good feat for the x360, the only reason BD outsold Zelda was because there was no shipments of Wiis in Japan that week. No Wiis = No Zelda.
I’m still glad that BD has this much hype though.
