Showcase - DRPOOLIPS423
Did ya miss this? Ofcourse you did. Well if you’ve been keeping up with the site, you’d know that I’ve had my hands pretty full since the last Showcase. But now that things are simmering down, I’m getting things back in order. And here we are with a fresh Unscripted 360 Showcase!
Poo? Poo who? It’s a doctor that you may not want to visit…
So who is the guy behind the console?
My real name is Corbin. I am a 19 year old full-time college student attending Cal Poly Pomona. I am a sophomore (2nd year) working on a Marketing degree. Eventually I would like to get my Masters degree in marketing as well. When I’m not at school, you can most likely find me at work. I work at a bank as a Personal Banking Assistant at the 7th largest mortgage lending company in the United States. A very good job for someone my age. My ultimate goal is to become a Marketing executive for a Videogame Production company. *crosses fingers*
You spend a lot of time in the 360 community. Why and what does the community mean to you?
I love the 360 community. Attending the forums and helping the noobs out (no insult intended) is something I really enjoy. Gaming is a great hobby of mine and talking about it with other gamers is wonderful. Microsoft has created and continues to maintain a wonderful group of diverse people that attend the forums and I am glad to be part of it.
Are there any changes in the community that you’d like to see?
So far, I do not see the need to implement any changes to the Xbox community. We are functioning just fine as it is. I personally cannot think of anything to better the Xbox live community. I’m sure there are a few things in the works that will help evolve the community and I look forward to seeing them. Microsoft and the Xbox Live team have continued to surprise me with the things they implement into the Marketplace and the way they personally connect with us gamers. That is what I think makes this community strong.
*tear* I’m sure you’ve had quite the reaction to your Gamertag….so what’s the story behind it?
Ha! Yeah, I have received many different reactions to my gamertag. There really isn’t much of a story behind it. One day my uncle and I were just finishing the installation of the new game “Need for Speed Underground” onto his computer. After it was installed, we got to the menu screen and it asked me to enter a name…all of a sudden my uncle just said DRPOOLIPS, and we started cracking up. Probably the hardest I have ever laughed in my life. It just stuck from that point on. Most people on Live crack up when they read it. Now that I have had the name since Xbox Live launched, I wish I could change it to Dr. Poolips so people can read it better. Everyone calls me DROOPLIPS.
When did you decide to ‘Jump In’ and has the Xbox 360 experience been a good or bad one for you?
I decided to “Jump In” when the original Xbox launched. From that day on I have maintained an interest in videogames. I was totally pumped when the 360 launched and continue to be excited to play it everyday. The whole Xbox 360 experience for me has been great, I couldn’t have asked for anything better (unless the eventually make an Xbox that folds laundry). A lot of people have talked about the trouble they have had with Xbox support and I would have to disagree.
The customer service I received when dealing with my broken Xbox was phenomenal and very quick. The refurbished console that they sent me was broken as well but Microsoft handled the situation very professionally and I couldn’t be happier. The only way Microsoft and the Xbox Live team can improve my experience is by making the
Xbox that folds laundry. Seriously. That would be awesome.
Laundry. Ok. What are you playing the most on your 360?
Rainbow Six, Gears of War, COD3, Viva Piñata (when I get my Xbox back). Great games.
Which title would you say has been the biggest surprise on the 360 so far?
The title that has surprised me the most is Oblivion. I was never one for the RPG type games, but that game blew me away. One of the greatest games I have ever played in my life.
There’s always a game that you wish you hadn’t wasted money on. Which is that game for you?
The Outfit.
Top 5 games so far that you’ve played on the 360.
1) Gears of War 2) Oblivion 3) Rainbow Six Vegas 4) Call of Duty 2 5) Ghost Recon. Man, that was tough…so many great games.
What 360 title are you waiting to release?
Too many to name! My most anticipated? *takes deep breath* Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Fable 2, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Halo 3, Halo Wars, PGR 4, Forza 2, Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway, Ghost Recon 2, GTA IV, Alan Wake, Stranglehold, Half Life 2, Guitar Hero 2, Bioshock, Indiana Jones, Kane and Lynch, Assassins Creed, and Shadowrun. Whew! I’m sure there are some I’ve missed and those are in no particular order.
I said title. No ’s’. Not plural. haha What has been your most ‘next-gen’ moment with the 360?
Playing COD2 for the first time, and walking out of the sewers in Oblivion. Amazing moments.
How do you feel about what the Xbox Live Video Marketplace and what it has delivered so far?
I think it is a good idea. For someone as busy as me and who is too cheap to spring for Tivo it is awesome. I just get to come home, download my show, and watch it. Great idea. I just hope they get some more of my favorite shows on there: Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Amazing Race, and the Victoria Secret Fashion shows…
Is this an Xbox showcase or underwear? Do you plan on purchasing the HD-DVD add-on or any of the new accessories out for the 360 soon?
Yeah! I want the Wireless Headset, Vision Camera, and eventually when I buy my HD T.V. I will definitely get the HD-DVD player. Too much to look forward to!
What feature would you say is the best reason to get an Xbox 360?
Everything. It has been a great experience for me, and I wouldn’t change any aspect of it. One of the Xbox’s major selling points is their Live capability. It is a great service accompanied with a great community.
All consoles are on the market right now. How comfortable are you with sticking with the Xbox 360 and why?
I’m totally comfortable with my choice. Like I said before-there is nothing I would change about my experience with the 360 so far. I would like to get my hands on a Wii though.
One game. One shot. You against Marcus Fenix. Who wins and what game are you playing?
Hmm. Me against Marcus Fenix. We are playing waterpolo. I win because Marcus Fenix drowns from his heavy armor.
Any last comments?
Hmmm. Not really. I would just like to thank everyone at the Xbox team that has granted me this wonderful experience with the Xbox console. Major Nelson, Trixie, Deacon (thats right!), Deathscythe, Dirty Diva, and all the others that I missed. I would like to give some props to some of the coolest guys on the forums-Irishprik411, UNSCleric, Rham, K2Valor, Crazzytzar, Lunatic core, Kartikeya, Dantesparda, MoshPitVet, and everyone who I missed. You guys continue to make the community great and enjoyable everyday.
Also, for anyone that is not on my friends list that reads this, just go ahead and shoot me a friend request. If I’ve got room, I’ll add you. And thanks to you Deacon again for the interview. What you do for us members of the forums and the way you handle things is a great part of this community and I’m sure there are others who share my opinions. Thanks!
That was an awesome Showcase Dr. Poolips. I’ll see you on Xbox Live!

Great showcase.
CoD2 was my first next-gen experience too.
