Blue Dragon and Japan
So this is what our fellow Japanese have been waiting for huh? It seems like they’re ready to tackle the Blue Dragon bundle in the land that has been foreign to most things Xbox. The Blue Dragon bundle is set to debut today and crowds have already been reported for the release of it. The bundle comes with the Xbox 360 Core system, a pretty jazzy faceplate and a copy of the game.
Famed game producer Hironobu Sakaguchi of Mistwalker and developer Artoon present the highly anticipated Xbox 360™ exclusive Blue Dragon. Featuring the character design of Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball Z and music by Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon is an epic role-playing game that centers on a young boy named Shu and several of his friends.

How many of you are importing this game or waiting for a possible US release? Check out a few pictures of the Blue Dragon release over at Joystiq.

Yeah-it seems that they’re pretty pumped about this game. Aka Magi (a forum member) has some pics on the main forums about this-it’s pretty crazy. I’ll paste the link:

It’s definitely going to give 360 a huge boost in Japan.
I’m waiting for the US release next year.

I’m not a fan of Japanese games but I would take a look at that if it were possible.

I wouldn’t call it a niche, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are among the biggest series’ in gaming history.

well i call it that moreso because of how other genres have performed over there. i know the spectrum of Final Fantasy etc expand across the globe, but this is definitely a genre that performs much better in Japan as we’ve when put up against other genres like FPS etc.
that’s what i meant by that.

Yay @ me breaking the 20,000 Gamerscore barrier last night.

Maybe I don’t understand what you’re saying, but Blue Dragon and Final Fantasy are the same genre. Turn based JRPGs.

i know lol. i’m saying Japanese 360 owners have responded better to the RPG genre than the first person genre or any other genre. at least as far as the Xbox is concerned.

Ohhhhh. Alright.
And by the way, in the news post you said “waiting for a possible US release”. Just wanted to let you know that Sakaguchi has said he wants to bring both Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to Europe and North America as soon as possible. I imagine we’ll see Blue Dragon some time next year.

yeah i know he said it…that guy says a lot of things that don’t happen lol
still, i hope a US release is forthcoming. i mean not for me..but for fans of the genre. it’s not my thing.

I really want Blue Dragon, but theres no way i could survive playing through it in Japanese, especially since it’s an RPG…
…guess i gotta wait :(…
But it’s good that the people of Japan are lovin’ it
Peace.

Please…please …please let this be a great step in helping Japan realize how great of a console the 360 is and start supporting it!

Well it sold at least the 10,000 bundles, probably a significant amount more. We should be getting the sales numbers in a few days.
