1080p Dashboard Update
If you’ve logged on to Xbox Live today, you were more than likely prompted for an update. Those of you who haven’t signed on yet, the next time you do you’ll be prompted for an update. This should please those of you who have sent messages to me this morning. Hey, I like to get some sleep every once in a while so forgive the late response. lol
Here are the details of that update:
-Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
-Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
-Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy

Updates frighten me now.

Thats good. I have seen many threads that have to do with these problems, so hopefully it will solve them.

After the last time I am not installing updates the same day they come out.
This is exactly why…

Good to see Microsoft actually cares about its customers, instead of just going, “It’s your TV’s problem” like Sony and 1080i.

I was a little scared about the update, but didnt know anything about it this morning. I just fired up the 360 and the update started then i got on the xbox forums.
Luckily my 360 is fine…. The PS3 not fixing the issues with older displays is junk! The “HD” console really isnt that Hi Def now is it?

Also, your little thread there is BS, as usual.
“Right, I’ve fixed it. Originally it was hooked up to my 720p LCD telly. After update it “didn’t work”, so I unplugged it from telly, and plugged it into my LCD monitor, it then worked fine. I put the resolution down to 640×480 and plugged it back into telly and now all is ok.”

I also ran into that thread Harper. I will also wait until it is safe to download. Even though it probably will be fine.

Thanks Doomsday, right thinking people especially ones that had known issues with the last update, (that did in fact brick their 360’s for a few days) learned the hard way about MS updates.
It is in the fanboy’s nature to deny the potential for problems and exonerate MS at all costs. Yes UNSCleric that means you.
Wasn’t my thread buddy, as you know I do not post in the forums. Seems to be more people than just that one guy that had the issue. Open your eyes and look around.

I havent had any problems with the other updates but I could run into a problem at any time so I think the smart thing to do is wait a bit then when all the problems (if any) are fixed I will update.
I dont even need the update since it doesnt help me in any way, so why risk my 360 for something I cant use.

Both of my 360’s were bricked for almost three days but the first version of the fall update. The problem was confirmed by MS (after be denied by phone support) and affected a certain build number of consoles. Since then I’ll be waiting for at least a day to apply any update. That gives time to look at the threads to see how many people are having problems and what the issues are.
It does no good to act as though mistakes don’t/can’t happen, they have in the past and they will again.

Here is another one…
“I called Microsoft, all they could tell me is “Microsoft is aware of the problem, however, it will be at least Monday before there is a remedy to the situation.” ”
Classic! Same line I was told after the 3rd time I called support.

Against my own better judgement I put the update on one of my 360’s and wouldn’t you know it…
E74 error on restart!!!!
I unhooked the cam and play-and-charge and all rebooted fine. Plug the cam back in…E74.
It’s not bricked exactly but this issue is slightly annoying.

I downloaded the update earlier and it worked fine. I just hope MS fixes the problems that some people are having.

I’m going to get my cam replaced today on the off-chance it is the problem. It was fine until the update though.
