Episode #20 - EA’s John Doyle on NFS Carbon Content
Welcome to Episode #20, a special edition show before I head out to the Lost Planet Summit. Coming up in the show is what you’ve all been emailing about…a sit down with John Doyle, Online Producer for Need for Speed Carbon. He took some time out to chat with me about the Premium Unlockable Content (PULC) that has the community in a frenzy. You remember PULC don’t you?

A lot of good information and a look inside the strategy behind it was revealed. One note that I thought was pretty cool…John used to work for Microsoft Game Studios. So he’s definitely fit to speak on the Xbox Live Marketplace and all things Carbon/Xbox 360. So here we go…sit down and enjoy the show!

I think I’m gonna hold my ears, I don’t want to hear any bull. Wish I could meet this guy and talk to him about it. Great job for getting it set up Deaconblade360, Dallas will get the field goal blocked again though! GO GEARS OF WAR, I could care less about NFS

*Yawn.*
I’m pretty sure thats why cheat codes have existed up to this point…
Now EA charges for them. Great.

I’m scared to see how EA destroys what is one of my favorite game series, Burnout. They’ve done a pretty good job so far, let’s see if they can totally kill it with 5, then my boycott of EA will even include Burnout.
I recently rented Carbon for free, and I never actually put it in my system for the 6 days I had it. Need for Speed used to be my favorite racer, like Burnout is now. Thanks EA.

you should give it a shot Cleric. the Canyon races are pretty fun…and they added a team element in it that’s pretty cool.

re: hard drive and video marketplace
Has Microsoft said the only place you can store content on is the 360 hard drive? With the latest update, they now allow you to play WMV off of a portable storage device, so who says they won’t allow content to be stored on a connected PC or external hard drive?

that issue isn’t clear yet.

Great show. It still seems like they are nickle and diming us. If the casual didn’t want to go through the whole game why not make the downloads free? We payed for the cars when whe bought the disk. Now it seem like we have to pay to pay if we want them early. I call BS on his answers.
