If you haven’t listened to Episode #15, then you missed my news about an event I started pre-planning last week.  It’s an opportunity for those who own and those who don’t own an Xbox 360 to take it for a spin before the holidays.  I’m attempting to plan this because of so many people approaching me about wanting to attend something like this but the travel issues with them being spaced throughout the US is often a challenge. 

You guessed it…many of those people are from Texas, Louisiana and other states that are seemingly close to yours truly here in Dallas.  So I thought, why not try to arrange something fun so that these people could feel like they ‘attended’ something.  Enter Deacon’s Unscripted Gaming Event with the Xbox 360 as the centerpiece. 

Currently, I’ve spoken with PR reps from a couple of businesses including Circuit City, Best Buy and McDonalds to gauge interest in the event being sponsored.  The reception and eagerness to listen was great so this thing has a really good chance at being pulled off.  What I vision are 12-13 displays equipped with Xbox 360 consoles and the hottest game releases for everyone to sit down and get some game time with.  I plan on getting with some of my industry peeps to hopefully provide the titles for both play and perhaps win.

There will be refreshments, a little bit of local music and a LOT of fun!  I mean hey, I’ll be there so ofcourse it’ll be fun.  I have visions of the setup being much like that of the State Fair of Texas in which large housing units are used to showcase events so everyone will be protected from the elements…be that heat or cold.  Something like that would be perfect for this or it could be staged in a lobby/convention center.

I’m designing all the media to use for promoting the event…the benefits of knowing how to design.

Details:  The U.G.E. is NOT an event to showcase any new information from developers or publishers.  It is an event to show some love to Dallas residents and showcase the Xbox 360 to give people an opportunity to get some real, quality time on the console and play its latest games.  Let’s face it, you can’t do that in a game store.  If I can snag a developer/publisher to stop by though, that would be great and you better believe I’ll be trying.  The event is scheduled for November so that the holidays can be spent making a good, informed decision about why the Xbox 360 is the only choice to make.  You’ll get to play it, love it, buy it and maybe even win it right at the event!
