Vision Camera and PC Setup

Let’s face it, there are many people out there who will probably get the Xbox Live Vision Camera and a good portion of those probably know very little about the PC.  So I figured I’d come up with a PC walkthrough to help those get this little thing set up properly on the PC.  I’ve included pictures for those who are like me and believe that a picture is worth a thousand words.  I’m running Windows XP Home.  And a small note…yes the ring of light still glows when connected to a PC.

Vision Camera

I hope this helps some of the less technically inclined souls out there.  Be sure to also read the Microsoft support article for more information.

  • Step 1 – shows what happens immediately when the Vision Camera is inserted into a USB port on your PC
  • Step 2 – shows the Wizard that pops up prompting you to install Xbox Security Method 3, Version 1.00…select (Recommended) to install the needed software to make the Vision Camera work
  • Step 3 – shows the end result if things went well…just click finish
  • Step 4 – shows the new hardware ready to use
  • Windows Live Messenger - this was an extra I took a shot of showing the settings for use with Windows Live Messenger.  just go to Tools and adjust your Audio/Video setup

I need to reinstall the Xbox LIVE Vision Camera to my computer with XP SP-3 Operating System, it appears a message that I install “Xbox Security Method 3 Version 1.00″, but has not been possible to download it automatically.
Can you tell me where I can get this download?
All this happened after installing Microsoft Explorer 8.0 on the computer. The camera stopped working.
    Thanks
