Zune delivers for the holidays
I know many of you have been interested in the latest entry into Microsoft’s Connected Entertainment vision. Well, all the information you need just came down the pipe today in a press release concerning Microsoft’s Zune.

It will be available this holiday season including a 30GB digital media player, the Zune Marketplace music service and a foundation for an online community that will enable music fans to discover new music. The Zune device features wireless technology, a built-in FM tuner and a bright, 3-inch screen that allows users to not only show off music, pictures and video, but also to customize the experience with personal pictures or themes to truly make the device their own. Zune comes in three colors: black, brown and white.
Thanks to the peeps over at Gamerscoreblog for the head’s up. There’s more about Zune at www.zuneinsider.com as well.

Any word on pricing? The only way I think it’ll be able to compete with the iPod is if it’s significantly cheaper, and now that the 360GB iPod is $250, I dunno.

I’ve had an iRiver for about 18 months now after a horrible experience with iPod (which has a 20%+ failure rate). I couldn’t survive without my iRiver, I wish I would have had things like this for more of my school life, instead of just the final year.

did you just say 360 gig ipod for $250?? if so, then yeah it’ll have to be priced right.

Pass!
I’ll wait for the new Video iPods at the January Macworld Expo.

does not interest me in the least. I just dont think it’ll do well, with ipod already having a huuuuge base.

I think I’d wait at least a year, becasue they seem like they are gonna have different ones with different capabilities.
Cool read, an interview with J Allard, who is working on Zune.

LOL @ anybody that thinks a startup MS hardware product will have better reliability than an established Apple product.
I like how the 5 year old first gen iPod is still included in people’s fail rate precentages. The same people that believe that are the ones that believe 360 fail rate is only 4%.
