In doing my daily ‘check Deacon’s press emails’ routine, I came across this. Well I gotta say as usb hubs go that thing is freakin huge, but still cool. I can’t imagine that selling all too well, who really needs that many usb ports on a 360? I use 4 on my desktop (but I do have built in media card readers) and at most 2 on my laptop. The only thing that ever get plugged into my 360 is a play and charge kit, or my iPod.

well i have a wireless adapter, the camera and play&charge. that leaves me with just one. so if i wanted the HD-DVD add-on and another peripheral, i’m stuck. it can be of use to a few people i’m sure. especially those with wired controllers.

The HD-DVD add-on adds more USB ports than it takes as far as I remember.

does it? how could that be? why have additional USB ports on the HD-DVD add-on? that would be crazy.

I think it makes sense to have usb ports on the hd-dvd drive. As you said Deacon you’re using your for wireless, play and charge, and the cam, those are the types of things that a lot of people have and if they have more accessories they’ll need more usb ports. However, you reminded me I have th e camera and that’s another port I’m using now, I always forget I have it. Here’s something funny, I’ve had 2 of my friends ask me where I got my gamerpic from. Apparently the idea of having a picture of me appeals to them, yeah I’m liquid sex.

The HD-DVD add-on will extend the number of USB plugs available since it is supposed to have 2 open connectors on back (acting as a mini-hub which is commonplace on many USB devices). You can match that comment with what Larry Hryb said “with the HD-DVD player you can plug in a 4th wired controller”. I think that was said in the last one of his worthless podcasts I ever listened to, I don’t know which number.
I don’t see much use for this Nyko product myself but others may. More power to ya.

In all of the web talk about the Nyko multireader 360 there’s not a single word about its use with a standard Windows XP desktop, which is the only reason I’m considering this thing.
What say you guys?

i haven’t tried that Dave. i would imagine there would be no issues…a USB port is a USB port ya know…but i’ll try it if you’re looking to see if it works?
