EA & In-Game Advertising
For years we’ve heard ‘It’s in the Game’ from nearly every Electronic Arts game as well as commerical…and well that pitch is about to mean more than you think.
Electronic Arts has seemingly reached agreements with Massive Incorporated’s and IGA Worldwide’s video game advertising networks “in a move that will offer to marketers on a global basis new dynamic advertising opportunities”.

“Dynamic advertising opportunities in top EA titles represent an unprecedented marketing opportunity for advertisers to target the youth demographic in the most engaging medium,” said Mitchell Davis, Massive chief executive.
The first game to incorporate this new form of marketing is Need for Speed Carbon.
What say you?

There were best Buy’s on every other corner almost. And every street had a Cingular billboard.

I’m all for in game advertisiements, as long as gamers benefit from such things. I feel like if the want to advertise in games, then maybe some free downloadable content should be made available. Advertising in games should never be used to ofset development and production costs.

I say games that do this need an option to turn off the ads in the settings.

If that was there,l why would people waste their time in advertising in the first place?

Because 75% of people would be too stupid to ever turn them off.

i think this is a very big deal, one of the reasons i dont watch TV is because of ads.. i mean on average you have about 2 ever 15 mins
well just think they might ‘force’ you to watch these ads inbetween loading sessions or something! i dont listen to radio because of ads either, thats why i play my 360 and listen to sirius radio, and the channels i listen to dont have ads.. this is bullshit… i think we need to stand up and let these people know we dont want ads glaore, maybe some control of how many ads their are…

The REAL problem is not the ads themselves, it’s the spyware used to collect all the info they need to upload ads targeting YOU.
Research how it works, and consider this……it’s only the begining.
