4th and 1 from the goalline…5 seconds remaining. You’re down 23-20. A field goal only gives you breathing room into overtime but a touchdown sends the opposing team home for the holidays. What do you do?

You buy Madden NFL 07 for the Xbox 360 and live that moment over and over. The gridiron returns to retail stores and the Xbox 360 today! This year’s version is sure to be a top seller after Madden NFL 06 topped more than 6.5 million copies!
“Madden NFL Football has become a cultural phenomenon and, with Maddenoliday, we are honoring all the Madden gamers across the country who line up at midnight and then take off the day to play Madden NFL 07,” said Todd Sitrin, VP of marketing for EA Tiburon and EA SPORTS brand. “We continue to bring innovative changes to the game every year, and now with the improvements in the running game, Madden NFL 07 is even more authentic. You will know how it feels to be actually on the field playing with the pros.”

It got some good reviews, but I don’t think a game that is rereleased every year a must-have game. Il definitely rent it.

I love it. Best Madden yet IMO. Can’t wait to play some league games and stuff.

I wish EA would take advantage of the ESPN 2K’s presentation and put it into the Madden series. Hearing and seeing fans cheering and players reacting on the sideline brought a sort of realism to the game as if I was watching a game on ESPN. Madden 07 looks like the same game from last year to me, with the exception of a couple of changes. I have no other choice but to get it though if I want my NFL fix. EA should at least consider giving a discount (not just the $5 to $10 you get on the trade in) if you trade in your previous year Madden game. Hopefully EA will consider reinventing the Madden series like they did with Knockout Kings reinventing it to Fight Night.

Well if you keep buying this garbage, they will keep pumping it out. At least buy it used.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:04 am
Well, try telling that to millions of Madden fans around the world. People will continue to buy Madden even if the rosters was the only thing that changed(which is almost true). By the time I buy one that is used the season is over and then Madden 2008 will be out.
I’m a fan of Madden, don’t get me wrong, but its been harder to be a fan of this game over the years when not a whole lot has changed. Like I said before, ESPN 2K series was great change of pace.

You can find used copies of any game a week or two (usually less) on eBay or at your local store.

What do you guys expect? Does football in general really change much year-to-year besides the rosters? Not really! So why expect radical changes in any single year revision of an NFL game? The very fact a game gets remade every single year alone is ludicris don’t blame EA for that. Even you Halo lovers would bitch about Halo if every year a new version came out with a slightly revised map or weapon or replay feature.
The general EA hate is ignorant and misguided. Their business model nearly mirrors MS’s…crush/assimilate competitors and develop a monopolistic marketplace to operate in. I don’t hear anybody complaining about the NFL for their choice to enter into an exclusive agreement with EA.
I’m not a fan of Madden in general, makes no difference that EA owns it or what version or platform it is played on. I just think the gameplay has little to do with actual football which I might know a little something about. NCAA 2007 on the other hand is much better in that regard. Even though many could rightly argue the two share significant amounts of code the gameplay feel is just better.

If Microsoft operated the same as EA, MS would have already bought Ubisoft and Rockstar.

Since EA is the creative mind behind the Madden series then why not blame them? The NFL has some input as far as licensing, plays, and player’s info but creatively its EA at the end of the day. I think by them buying up the competition, it eliminates the competive edge; the energy to create the best game possible and Madden hasn’t been a great game in the past couple of years. By being the only football game out, EA has nothing to worry about because fans will still buy the game year after year.
And its not the fact that football changes every year its the fact that you are looking at the same presentation every year and nothing has changed but the year and the cover. Even the commentary on the game is the same. All I’m asking for is at least a makeover to get me excited about the game.

Best part of Madden07 for me has been the SS mode. It’s pretty fun…
August 23rd, 2006 at 12:14 pm
Can’t buy something thats not for sale. Rockstar selling to MS would lose them money. They are worth alot more making games for the most popular console brand.
The question you should be asking is that if EA is so terrible why have they not bought them?

I’m a lover of football, just wish it was played all year round, thanks for posting such a good article. I’ll be back to read often now.
