Well I'm gonna be your devils advocate in saying some of those classic titles don't translate so well to the 360 and the newer controllers, but everyone needs a counterpoint person. I still love the push for games by MS, retro is always cool, but the new titles that come to arcade just own. I love seeing these things and look forward to what XNA has to offer.

Where did Microsoft make the announcement about pricing all their games at $49.99 though? All I could find when I looked was some speculaitve Joystiq/1Up article.

Did Microsoft ever officially say all games even remotely associated with Microsoft Game Studios would be $49.99?

Actually, Microsoft as the publisher of Gears of War did price it at $60.

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11501/Official-Response-Regarding-Emergence-Day/

TeamXbox: Gears of War will be the first game published by Microsoft Game Studios to cost more than $49.99, with the limited collector’s edition selling for 70 bucks. What is the reason for that change and can Xbox 360 owners expect other first and second party games like Halo 3 or Mass Effect to cost this much?

Microsoft Spokesperson: It's up to publishers to value their games and it's up to the market to decide if publishers get it right. Of course, every game will be evaluated for value on a case-by-case basis - that won't change. As for us, we will ship our games at parity pricing with the current generation.

Basically they're charging $60 for it because they know people will buy it no matter what, while other titles (PDZ, PGR, Kameo, Viva Pinata) aren't completely sure things. I'd bet on Halo 3 also being $60.
