What’s next? XBLA Wednesdays is over.
I know, I know…trying to find out what to do in the early hours of a Wednesday is going to be an event for some. The Summer of Arcade promotion is over so weekly Arcade releases are ‘essentially’ a thing of the past. Now that doesn’t mean much outside of the ‘weekly’ part as Arcade games will still be released on Wednesdays…it’s just that the event that wasXbox Live Arcade Wednesdays is over.

There are rumors around citing Texas Hold ‘Em and a variety of games being released in the coming weeks..but we know what happens after we assume.
So let’s give a good send off to the Summer of Arcade because it brought us lots of fun with Galaga, Pac-Man, Cloning Clyde, Street Fighter II and Frogger!

Like I said when both incidents happened…just wait until you see how some people will spin it. There sure were an aweful lot of people that seemed to think both things were said. They cannot all be wrong. I could care less about the GOW price. It was exactly as I knew it would be.

DEACON…YOU CALL YOURSELF A GAMER!?!?!?
Marathon was the first offering by what was once a great and independant developer, Bungie. The story ended up being a trilogy with each release being far more advanced than the previous. Breakthrough features included multiplayer Lan maps and later play over modems.
So it could be said…without Mac gamers in the early 90′s there would be no Marathon and thus no Bungie or Halo. Interesting!

The Marathon trilogy was/is in the same universe as the Halo universe. There is a lot of deep connections between the two (story-wise too).
I think Bungie’s next project after Halo is finished would be another series of games with a story arc within the same universe.

oh okay then…i’ll have to research it i guess lol

Blah…Bungie is dead to me now that I know MS assimilated them.

Actually, Microsoft as the publisher of Gears of War did price it at $60.
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11501/Official-Response-Regarding-Emergence-Day/
TeamXbox: Gears of War will be the first game published by Microsoft Game Studios to cost more than $49.99, with the limited collector’s edition selling for 70 bucks. What is the reason for that change and can Xbox 360 owners expect other first and second party games like Halo 3 or Mass Effect to cost this much?
Microsoft Spokesperson: It’s up to publishers to value their games and it’s up to the market to decide if publishers get it right. Of course, every game will be evaluated for value on a case-by-case basis – that won’t change. As for us, we will ship our games at parity pricing with the current generation.
Basically they’re charging $60 for it because they know people will buy it no matter what, while other titles (PDZ, PGR, Kameo, Viva Pinata) aren’t completely sure things. I’d bet on Halo 3 also being $60.

Where did Microsoft make the announcement about pricing all their games at $49.99 though? All I could find when I looked was some speculaitve Joystiq/1Up article.
Did Microsoft ever officially say all games even remotely associated with Microsoft Game Studios would be $49.99?
August 15th, 2006 at 3:46 pm
They did not ever officially say it, no.

Well I’m gonna be your devils advocate in saying some of those classic titles don’t translate so well to the 360 and the newer controllers, but everyone needs a counterpoint person. I still love the push for games by MS, retro is always cool, but the new titles that come to arcade just own. I love seeing these things and look forward to what XNA has to offer.

i’m all for original Arcade titles! i prefer ‘em.
